Guide to Completed SSHG Novels (HBP-era) - Non Compliant
I mentioned in a previous post a friend had mentioned she hadn’t read a lengthy post-HBP SSHG story that matched the old classics, which left me to scurry to catch up on my reading to see if she was right. I searched through FanfictionNet, AdultFanfiction, Restricted Section, Ashwinder, Petulant Poetess and OWL.
Below is listed every single completed SSHG story I could find of over 40,001+ words and less than 100,001 words posted after July 15, 2005 and before July 21, 2007. It comes to 127 novels.

I put a star next to the ones I personally liked (I tried all below) and otherwise noted those recognized by awards and rec sites like the Multifaceteds, Quill to Parchment (QtP), Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards nominees to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out.
There are, of course, several works in progress that may yet reach Novel length and be completed that ultimately will belong on this list. So, in the order in which they were posted:

I'll spare you the rant of last time about non-canon compliant fics (see epic post) except to say that once again they're almost half the fics, and this is a BAD thing (and btw, it might have been worse, if not for the contribution of the sshg_exchange which produced 9 novels in this period, all canon-compliant.)
There's a lot to annoy going through a slush pile like this, but lots to discover, too. Kailin's two novels (particularly Into the North) now joins Dyce's Survivors for my favorite HBP SSHG novels. They are joined by Arsenic's Rule of Law, Abby's Price of Freedom and Warded_Portal/Shiv's Canvas & Paint as stories I know I'll reread again and would rec to anyone new to the ship as introductions along with those of the classic era.
The one story I starred I have mixed feelings about is Snape's Redemption. It was the first well-written post-HBP ongoing story I ever found in the ship, and in some sense I imprinted on it. It's hard to discuss what I hate and love in it w/o spoilers. Let's just say on the negative side, I spent the entire story rooting for Hermione to Hex Snape and leave him and that the story has a lot of things I generally hate in the ship. However, it also does something gutsy few in the period did, and I remember it as well-written and imaginative and don't feel I can fairly reassess it by a reread.
Then there are stories that impressed as being unique, different, stylish and/or original. Stories like Pumblechook, Southern Magic, Momento Amori, The Prisoner, Snape Redux and dracontia's Jarvey stories. All stories showing that with some imagination the ship hasn't exhausted itself by any means.

I put a star next to the ones I personally liked (I tried all below) and otherwise noted those recognized by awards and rec sites like the Multifaceteds, Quill to Parchment (QtP), Know It Alls (KIA) and crack_broom, as well as the sshg_awards nominees to highlight those that you might find worthwhile checking out.

I'll spare you the rant of last time about non-canon compliant fics (see epic post) except to say that once again they're almost half the fics, and this is a BAD thing (and btw, it might have been worse, if not for the contribution of the sshg_exchange which produced 9 novels in this period, all canon-compliant.)
There's a lot to annoy going through a slush pile like this, but lots to discover, too. Kailin's two novels (particularly Into the North) now joins Dyce's Survivors for my favorite HBP SSHG novels. They are joined by Arsenic's Rule of Law, Abby's Price of Freedom and Warded_Portal/Shiv's Canvas & Paint as stories I know I'll reread again and would rec to anyone new to the ship as introductions along with those of the classic era.
The one story I starred I have mixed feelings about is Snape's Redemption. It was the first well-written post-HBP ongoing story I ever found in the ship, and in some sense I imprinted on it. It's hard to discuss what I hate and love in it w/o spoilers. Let's just say on the negative side, I spent the entire story rooting for Hermione to Hex Snape and leave him and that the story has a lot of things I generally hate in the ship. However, it also does something gutsy few in the period did, and I remember it as well-written and imaginative and don't feel I can fairly reassess it by a reread.
Then there are stories that impressed as being unique, different, stylish and/or original. Stories like Pumblechook, Southern Magic, Momento Amori, The Prisoner, Snape Redux and dracontia's Jarvey stories. All stories showing that with some imagination the ship hasn't exhausted itself by any means.
