BaKanda hinty moments XD yay?
Kanda...was currently...pinning a very frustrated Bak in the corner of the room--by the window--and they were shouting none too friendly in a mix of Japanese and Chinese.
And Chome. well--what could she do? She felt like laughing--so she did
(KANDA AND BAK)
Kanda scowled, completely ignoring the idiot doctor's lame excuse for a distraction, "You. /What/? Didn't I just say--" /that I was fine? That I didn't need the blood work done? That I--/ "Just because I fucking...have...an attack...doesn't fucking mean you can go ahead and just--what kind of fucking doctor /are you/?" And though he wasn't steady on his feet he whirled around to face the man--ignoring the slight dizzy spell.
Said man looked /livid/ yet again. And Kanda knew it'd all go to hell in a second. And somehow he didn't quite care.
"'What kind of doctor am I'?" Bak repeated, stepping forward, and - because now he /could/ - getting right up in Kanda's face, his eyebrows drawn together in frustration. "I'm the kind of doctor who actually /gives/ a damn, Kanda! I'm the kind of doctor who /cares/!"
"And if...if whatever this shit was, was strong enough - fucked /up/ enough - to send you into another attack, then /damn it all to Hell/!! I'm going to /find/ out what's wrong with you, before anyone has to regret it!!"
"Besides!!" he continued, voice rising even higher, even more frantic. "/As/ your doctor, it's up to /me/ to make decisions for you, when you're unable to make your own!!"
Kanda's eyes widen ever so slightly, "And what makes you think I couldn't make that decision on my own--fuck the...attack...wasn't even /bad/ this time." And it wasn't. If smells could snap him out of it. If his own mind could formulate, coerce--but the man wasn't standing down--firm--and right in face--so he took a step forward, and Bak a step back, "Well? You know I fucking hate it when people do that. /Even you/. What the fuck makes you think you know--"
"Because I didn't /know/ how bad it was, Kanda!!" Bak snapped, forced to take yet another step back. "I had no way of knowing when you'd come out of it! Or even-"
He paused, unable to say the word - 'IF' - not about him, not about Kanda. But why? Why was it so hard? He was a /doctor/, damnit! And so, he took a deep breath, and started again - taking one last step back - and now he was against the wall - as Kanda took yet one last step forward.
"You could have /died/, Kanda!" he nearly choked. " And that's when I /stop/ caring about what you want, because I /won't/ risk letting another person I care about /die/!!"
Kanda placed both hands on either side of the doctor's head, but nearly threatened to drop them at the last round of choked out words. He had said something like that once before--hadn't...he? What the fuck? No he hadn't he--
Kanda scowled, "I. won't. fucking. die. I can't."
Bak glared.
He glared.
Then the door slammed open, "What's going on here?" it was Fou--for just one split second--eyes wide-wide, wide--"Oopsie, my bad~" and then she slammed it shut again.
"What the fuck--?"
Bak blinked...then blinked again. And then, before he could blink a third time, his cheeks were lit up like a flame. He was surprised he hadn't broken out in hives yet, considering - and oh /God/, he could /smell/ Kanda from this close, and-
No. He wouldn't think about that. He /couldn't/ think about that. Why did he want to think about that? But then, the younger man's words hit him like a brick, and he looked up into the other's eyes, startled, and confused.
"You -can't....what?" He blinked again, and his eyebrows furrowed. "Kanda.../anyone/ can die. No one's invincible, and the people who think that...usually die first."
"Che I know that fucking /baka/." He ground out, turning back to the man only briefly, "I can fucking die any damn time my body decides to give the fuck up on me--or fate fucking happens. BUt I can't. let. it. happen. /yet/." His eyes flashed for a moment and--dammit /no/ he couldn't--he turned away again because Bak had seen it in that brief moment--/desperation/...and.../guilt/ and fuck older people always had a thing for guilt. And he didn't want to fucking /hear/ it.
Thankfully he didn't have to. When the door opened (this time much slower)--cutting off whatever words that had died on Bak's parted lips (wait what the /fuck/--mouth) and--and--
Someone giggled.
Bak nearly jumped at the sound of light laughter, coming from the door, and - damnit, he was blushing even /harder/ now! His head snapped in the door's direction - a bit too quickly, if the sharp 'crack' in his neack was anything to go by - and his purple eyes widened at the sight of Chomesuke. Just standing there.
/Staring/ at them. And then Fou came back in behind her, looking for /all the world like she /knew/ something - which she didn't.
"Erm...." He coughed, then tried again. "Can we....help...you..?"
"I brought juice!" Chomesuke said far too happily for her own good, and Kanda straightened just slightly as she made her way into the room and--wait--did he see a flash of /red hair/?
/Oh fuck!/
How--could he have--and--
"You also have guests. If you're willing to uh, see them." Fou hummed approvingly, "Which it seems like you are since you're readily pinning Bak to a wall in all--/wow/ wasn't it /you/ Bak, who said 'No sex allowed in the patients rooms'?"
Kanda looked back briefly at the blond--whose eyes widened ever so slightly and--the blush--and...he hadn't stopped /blushing/ had he?
And he couldn't get any words out. None. At all.
But before evne /he/ could Chome cut them all off, "Here's your juice!~" And she thrust the cup up at his face and--
He didn't know whether or not to be thankful as he let his hands drop from the wall on either side of Bak’s face, to shakily take the drink from her hands.
The instant the way was clear, Bak immediately pushed past Kanda, grabbed Fou by the hand, and pulled her out of the room - his cheeks burning all the while, brighter than they had in /years/. He ignored the startled look Chomesuke sent him, as well as the confused one from Kanda. As for Mr. Kamelot and Lavi - well, they weren't even paying attention.
Once they were a ways down the hall, he stopped, and spun around to face his cousin.
"Okay. We need to talk. Not /now/, but...later. About this..this...Hell, I don't even /know/. But /you/ seem to think you know something, and I want to know what the fuck you're on about. Because....because....well."
'Because' why? What was he supposed to say? 'Because I think you might be right'? Ha. No way. As if. Because she /wasn't/ right - couldn't be - but if she was......
Fou smirked at the suddenly bewildered expression on Bak's face--oh /oh OH/--yes maybe Chome was right--she /might/ be lightyears ahead of the game, but that at least meant they'd get there at /some point/ right? Of course.
"Well if you don't get it then I /suppose/ I could tell you. Later of course." She grinned up at him--grin widening when she saw the blush andd--was that the starting of hives? ooh~ "But y'know, it'd be more fun if I just let you figure it out on your own~" Then she turned away, hoping he'd follow--but when he didn't after a few steps, she looked back at him, "What? You coming? I mean--" She glanced at the redhead and Mr. Kamelot and smiled, "He really /does/ Have visitors--is Kanda fine to go in and see? Cuz /I/ certainly think he is~"
And Bak, well, he looked just a little dumbfounded. Oh--and he was /still/ blushing. Cute.
"Ah-Coming, yes!" the blonde said quickly, rushing to catch up to Fou. Once he did, he hissed quietly, "You'd /better/ tell me later... And, well - yes, I suppose they can see him. I'll go tell them myself."
And with that, he jogged off, back to the end of the hall where Lavi and Sheryl waited.
Lavi looked up as Bak reached them, and his eye widened slightly. The man was....blushing..? Why? He'd jus' ran out of Kanda's room with Fou, and then...they...OH. Well.....he wouldn't bring that up. Not right /now/, anyways.
"Ah.. Can we see him yet?" he asked, a little /too/ eager, as he sat up quickly, and let out a soft yelp. Sheryl cast him a worried glance, but Lavi ignored it. "Ugh....er, never mind me. But - can we see him?"
"I....suppose so. Yes. But...be careful, okay? He's...rather pissed off right now..." Bak warned, and-
Had his blush just gotten /deeper/?
Lavi quirked an eyebrow slightly, his gaze not leaving Bak's, and the older man froze, his face taking on a rather panicked look.
"Uhm...Fou will go in with you. Yes, won't you Fou? I have somewhere else I need to be right now, so, uh...yeah. Go on in. And be careful!" Bak spoke in a rush, before turning on his heel, and stalking quickly down the hallway.
Lavi shared a look with Fou, trying not to laugh at the blonde's reaction. "I.../think/ I see what you're getting at, now."
"So, uhm...help..please..?" he asked Sheryl, blushing slightly.
Sheryl smiled lightly and noded his head, standing before bending down and scooping up the boy into his arms, before turning to the room. Fou gave them a look again before pushing--no /not pushing/--kicking--the door the rest of the way open.
The brunette--Chome? Chomesuke?--was in mid sentence, and jumped when the door hit the wall, whipping her head to them startled then confused--but Kanda was the one to ask the question /for/ her.
"Where'd Bak go?"
"Erm...." Lavi coughed lightly, and averted his eye from Kanda's, instead looking up at Sheryl, then down at the floor. "He...ran away?"
Because really - that was what Bak /had/ done. 'Somewhere else he needed to be'? Riiiight.... Where could he possibly need to be, on his /day off/? It was an excuse - plain and simple. Something had...happened. In here. With them. And now Bak was /flustered/, and Lavi thought he knew why. He /knew/ Fou did.
Finally, he chanced a glance back up at Kanda, waiting for his reaction.
Kanda blinked, "Ran....away?" Fou let out a snort and Chome a giggle, "Why the fuck did he...?" Judging from Fou's expression and--"It's my fault?"
"Yes. Your fault."
Kanda blinked again and opened his mouth--
"And don't you /dare/ ask what you did." Fou cut him off, smirking like the mad woman she was (how the /hell/ did she become a nurse again?) while Chome nearly broke out in a fit of giggles--
"Um..hehe...I-I'll..haha...t-try to find him." She stuttered out between giggles, before nearly dashing across the room--pushing past Sheryl, and Lavi, and Fou.
Leaving him. Standing there. Alone. /Shit/
But no--he wouldn't panic--he--swallowed, looked to the side, and almost shivered. Shit he wasn't--
"Eh I'm sure he couldn't've gone far." Fou cut the panic off--somehow, easily, reassuring in that way she had to be sometimes, "She'll drag him back here if he needs to be here."
Kanda felt his shoulders lax just a little, as something akin to relief washed over him--but--why?
Fuck he didn't want to think about this.
Lavi chuckled lightly, and shook his head - finally looking back up. He cleared his throat loudly, and Kanda turned towards him, meeting his gaze.
"I...don't think it's so much /your/ fault, Yuu. More like - you're both sorta t'blame." At Kanda's bewildered look, the redhead shook his head, whistling softly. "Nope~ Can't tell ya~"
"But, anyways...how are you? Do you feel better now?" He really, /really/ hoped it wasn't obvious he'd been crying. But then again, with his luck, hoping probably wouldn't do him any good.
Kanda stared at the redhead for a moment, at the cheerful secretive tone--/Fuck/--what /was/ it with people today? Acting like they fucking knew things and wouldn't /say it/. He'd make sure to watch Bak after that. because--well--fuck it.
He let out a sigh turning to look at the window before looking back at the red-head, "Better." Not great. fantastic. Because something was nagging him, the way Sheryl shifted his hold only slightly on Lavi, and the way Lavi's lone eye seemed just a little red--what had happened? What had?
The cold feeling crept up into his chest, and he saw Fou move just a little closer, eyes narrowing on Sheryl--/that's why/--because she picked up on things. But Sheryl was just--/dammit/ what was it?
"What about you?" He forced out, though from the expression on the other's face (which he could only catch a glimpse of before turning back to the window) he knew he had been--distracted. By something.
Fuck, he hated worrying people.
"I'm....okay," Lavi admitted, shrugging. But he'd noticed../something/ flash in Yuu's eyes, and it worried him. But-
"I'm...gunna hafta have surgery, apparently." And he couldn't help but shudder, already feeling anxious just /thinking/ about it - and he was glad, then, for the comfort of having Sheryl hold him.
"I'm a bit freaked out by that, honestly, though... Never had surgery before, an' I can't say I really /want/ to, y'know?" And of course - he was trying to be a distraction. True, he was answering a question he'd been asked, but - and, he thought they all probably knew this - he normally wouldn't have admitted anything like that around so many people. But he could /see/ the anxiety in Yuu's eyes now, and he just wanted to make it go away. If that meant exposing his /own/ weaknesses, then so be it.
Kanda...barely nodded his head. Or he did but, "Che--then should you be moving around--" his eyes flashed to Sheryl again (who looked at him oddly, as if he was--getting the fact that he--but /no/ dammit!) "or being fucking carried around." he paused, "You should be--" but why couldn't he grasp his train of thought.
And Fou was getting closer, fidgeting just a little as she went and /dammit/ he wasn't going to have another attack /now/.
Then, suddenly he heard squabbling in the hall--and immediately recognized Chome's voice--
"OH please Bak--it's your day /off/ you don't /need/ to do anything besides--" Then she stepped in, through the door (making Fou jolt) dragging Bak behind her...and froze.
"Oopsie did I interrupt something?" He could see Bak look past her, at him and--then at Sheryl and--/how did they know him so well/ immediately Bak shoved past her, acting all natural--straightening his coat jacket like he hadn't been about to fucking hightail it.
Kanda couldn't help but relax when the man stepped closer--no matter how much he fucking hated his body doing what he /didn't want it to do in the first place/. Hell--it was bad enough that--he shuddered inwardly as the cold feeling tried to grow, and he knew Bak was concerned, when the man shot him that look--and Lavi and--but he was /fine/.
Wasn't he?
And Lavi had seen - he'd /seen/ how Yuu had shifted just a slight bit closer to Bak, when the blonde man approached him. Even though he knew it had been a subconscious thing. And he smirked lightly. But not for too long, because Yuu /still/ had that....terrible expression on his face, and Lavi didn't like it one bit.
"I should...what?" he prompted, urging the other to speak, to take his mind off of whatever was bothering him this time. "Yuu..?"
Bak looked back and forth between Lavi, and Kanda..and then to Sheryl. That - /he/ - seemed to be the problem, if he knew the signs - which he did. And he knew that - unfortunately - Kanda couldn't handle Sheryls presence right now, whether he /thought/ he could, or not.
"Er....Mr. Kamelot? Woud you mind, possibly...leaving the room? For a bit? Just...you can set Lavi down on that bed," he gestured to the one on Kanda's right. "Fou will show you out, and - well, explain."
He gave the man an apologetic look, but...when he returned his gaze to Kanda, he knew - it was necessary, if they didn't want a repeat of earlier.
Sheryl, surprisingly, complied with ease, setting the redhead down without complaint--his only words, "I understand completely." And then he smiled in a way that couldn't have lied--couldn't have--"I can wait...out in the lobby is it?" he smiled as Fou led the way out the door, casting Lavi a glance before the door closed, softly, behind him.
Chome was the next to speak up, "Um--I'll...go too. Just in case Fou decides to be a meanie about it." Because she saw it too--that panic and that /wasn't/ good. The less people around--the better. And he seemed to react will to the redhead--they were friends, right? Of course. So she quickly followed suit and closed the door just as softly behind her.
And once it clicked shut, well--
the only thing Kanda was vaguely aware of was that suddenly his back was cold but his arm was warm, as Bak placed a hand there--
Then Lavi spoke
"What...the heck was that all about..?" the redhead asked, almost hesitantly.
Ahh....it seemed Kanda /hadn't/ told the boy about...that. Or else - he was /sure/ - Lavi wouldn't have looked nearly so confused. And Bak had /seen/ the disappointment, obvious in the redhead's lone eye, when the door had shut behind Mr. Kamelot. And maybe - he might have felt a /little/ guilty for having to send the man out, but - not.
Because even though there was an immediate change in the Japanese' demeanor - he was calming down - there was /still/ just that slight trace of remaining anxiety.
Kanda let out a sigh, sending a quiet thanks (like hell he'd say it out loud) to the blond man standing next to him, "Che...like..." and damn he felt tired now, but that cold feeling hadn't entirely gone away, "too much...to explain." then he sighed and tried to straighten himself--and Bak moved closer--rubbing his back now because--damn the man could read him better than he could--so it wouldn't be for no fucking reason.
And something caught at that--in the idiots lone green eye, along with the disappointment at having Sheryl leave at--
He swallowed, words heavy in his mouth, and suddenly, yeah he was grateful for that hand on his back.
He wanted to fucking /apologize/. But he'd never apologized to /anyone/ not verbally--except maybe, well, Lenalee once, and Tiedoll because the man could guilt trip--and he'd been so damn sorry when Marie--
Don't. think. about. them.
So he sighed and leaned his head back, not really looking at anything before muttering, "Sorry." And, "That pervert didn't make you /cry/ did he?"
He heard the gasp. Then the chuckle. Maybe he could be a little okay now.
Lavi looked away, ashamed. Was it /really/ that obvious? But - well - ugh.
"No. He didn't make me cry," Lavi denied, shaking his head. And he /saw/ the disbelieving look in Kanda's dark eyes, as he glared at him. "I'm not lying, Yuu. I didn't say I didn't cry - because, well, I /did/. I'm jus' saying, it wasn't Sheryl's fault. He made me feel /better/, actually. He was....really sweet.."
And damnit - this was /not/ the time to be blushing. Fuck.
Kanda's mouth twitched, "Then /what/ made you cry? You don't fucking /cry/ baka." Or at least he tried /not to/ he knew that. Only when he was fucking drunk and even then they were fake tears.
And though the blush was still there--Lavi's eye held his and in one second he fucking knew the answer. Just as it slipped past his lips and--
He didn't mean it. It made him feel bad--and the disgusting feeling in his chest grew--cold--cold-cold--and /why/ but Lavi was still talking.
He wanted to say /shut up/ but the redhead was right.
It /was/ all his fault.
And yes, he was glad for that hand on his back, very glad.
Lavi raised an eyebrow at Kanda, as if to say, 'You really don't know?', but chose to look away only a moment later.
"Fine. Y'wanna know why I cried? It's b'cuz after everythin' we've been through, after everythin'....after I /showed/ you, even," and Kanda hadn't a doubt in his mind as to what Lavi was talking about, "you /still/ don't fucking trust me!!"
"Fou was nice enough to point that out, /oh/ so politely, too," he hissed sarcastically, and by now his hands were shaking. "There are still things I don't know about my own /best friend/, that even your fuckin' /doctor/ knows! Whereas you pretty much know /every secret I have/, at this point! I fail to see how that's fair. I fail to see how there's even any 'trust' here, at least on your part!"
Kanda cringed inwardly. Trust--yes--he--did get....he did but....
"Che, it's," He paused, looked to Bak, who looked worried--the man was always fucking worried, always, always and even with the hand on his back he could feel the coldness seeping into his chest. That wasn't fucking good. That was fucking brilliant--it was--
Shit.
"I.../fuck/...you can handle yours." It didn't make any sense, and suddenly that hand was gripping the fabric of his shirt--tightly, sending him a warning look but /dammit/, "I can't yet. And it's fucking stupid. And I'm /sorry/." He hated how his voice cracked at the end of it.
He hated how Bak looked so ready to say something--but was waiting /fuck/ that man waited when he didn't /have/ to...or it was too long or--like he /knew/ and he was sure he did and--just. Dammit.
Finally, Bak sighed, and looked over to Lavi. The boy was still trembling, though he knew Kanda's words had reached him, and Bak felt sorry for the kid, but - well, he didn't have any choice this time.
"Lavi." The redhead snapped his head up to face the Chinese, and Bak sighed again, running a hand through his hair. "I think....you need to leave now."
And the redhead caught on immediately, his eye widening even more as his head swiveled to face Kanda, worry etched deeply onto his face.
Bak turned his eyes away from the pitiful boy, and spoke into his walkie-talkie. "Miranda? Yes, can you come up to Kanda's room, please? Bring a stretcher, it's for Lavi."
/Yes, Doctor,/ the woman's voice came over the other end, and - nodding to himself - Bak turned the device off, and tucked it away into his pocket. Two minutes later, the door opened, and Miranda rushed through, pulling the stretcher behind her.
"Alright, Lavi, let's get you on here," she began, her tone light and soft. She really /was/ a good nurse/, Bak thought as he watched her work. He helped the woman carefully lift the redhead off the bed, and place him gently on the stretcher, and soon, she was wheeling him out the door.
As they left, Lavi cast a glance back through the quickly closing door, and he saw - he /saw/ Kanda lean tiredly against Bak, who was now sitting on the edge of the bed, and sporting a tender smile. And that's when Lavi /knew/ Fou had been right.
Sheryl let out a sigh, holding the cellular device up at yet another angle, "You say we can make calls in the lobby--but we have no service."
"Hence why I say /go outside/." Fou muttered, not even looking up once from her clipboard, "Who the heck do you want to call /anyway/?"
"My brother."
Her head snapped up, "You have a /brother/?" she sounded too shocked and--my--
"Why yes, yes I do. Is it /that/ surprising?" the pink haired nurse opened her mouth to respond, but then she shut it and--when he followed her gaze, he saw a stretcher being pulled out with a very familiar redhead on it--
"Lovey!" The nurse shot him a weird look as he rushed over, "Youre back...early. How was Kanda...?" Judging from the look on the boy's face, it wasn't pretty.
But before the boy could speak Fou cut him off, "He was about to have another attack, wasn't he? Great."
Lavi sighed, and nodded, but didn't speak. It was his fault. He'd made Kanda upset, and now-
He could feel the slight prickle of tears again, and he angrily wiped his eye on the back of his hand, sniffling. Miranda gave him a concerned look, before glancing up at Sheryl.
"Will he be fine to leave with you Mr. Kamelot? I have other duties to attend to, so..." she trailed off at the man's nod, and smiled in thanks. "Alright, you take care Lavi. I'll see you later, alright? Oh, and - if you need service, there's a courtyard just down that hall there, and to the left. You can't miss it. Unfortunately, we can't let patients outside the main doors until they're released, but it's for a reason. I'm sure you understand."
Lavi looked upset, then looked over at Sheryl--who held up his phone, "I was going to attempt to call Tyki, but..."
"That dear brother of yours might like it better if he hears you were in surgery but it was successful and you were FINE now, than beforehand." Fou cut them off again, sighing loudly and clipping the pen back to the clipboard--standing up in the next motion, "Now then--I think Chome should be coming back anytime now. THe room SHOULD be ready--considering it's a Sunday and we very rarely do surgeries on sunday." Lavi let out a squeak.
Not long after, Chome arrived, a bright smile on her face. Lavi gulped, and looked up at Sheryl for help, but the man only smiled down at him, and ruffled his hair reassuringly.
"But...but.../Sheryl/!!" And then they were wheeling him away, and the direness of the situation hit him. Surgery. He was going in for surgery. Which meant, he was going to be /put under/. And that was never good.
Finally, they reached another room, in another hallway, on another floor, and suddenly Lavi was in another bed. Where had the time gone? Had he really been so panicked, as to not properly observe his surroundings?
And now there was a man standing over him, looking - oh, /Hell/. The guy looked almost as nervous as /he/ did, though he did a great job of covering it up. But Lavi saw, and-
"I don't trust you one bit."
The surgeon looked momentarily taken aback, but quickly composed himself. "Now, now. It's only natural to be nervous before a surgery, but don't you worry. My name is Dr. Wong, and you're going to be just fine."
But the room was already swimming, and - when the /fuck/ had they stuck /that/ in his arm? He glared up at the doctor - as best he could with his eye's need to close, fighting with his will to keep it open - and growled, "Don't you /dare/ take my eyepatch off.."
And then it all went black.
Sheryl was quite certain the boy would be mad at him. After all he had told Fou before that he disliked surgery--had it not already been apparent--and that putting him under would be most likely the best choice.
But that had been nearly an hour ago. Or, well, maybe not nearly as much (that clock was ten minutes fast--goodness!), but now he was sitting in a back room with said redhead asleep peacefully on the bed--and Chome over by one of the counters asking him about juice--juice? /Why juice?/ But he chose anyway
"Grape." Because who didn't like grape? And she smiled and poured a small cup of it and placed it on the small tray attached to the bed Lavi was currently sleeping in.
"He should wake up in a couple of minutes," she said matter-of-factly, "I'll be out in the hall if you need anything."
Sheryl could only find it in himself to nod before the brunette slipped out. And as if the door closing was enoguh (which he didn't know how it was possible)--the redhead shifted and grumbled, lone green eye flittering for a moment before opening--and--
"Lovey?"
"Nng...." The first then Lavi noticed when he woke up, was the jarring pain in his chest and abdomen -it was over already? - followed by how unfairly /bright/ it seemed in the room. And then - finally - he registered Sheryl's voice, and he opened his eye again, squinting to keep as much light from touching his retina as possible, and looked at the man sitting next to him.
"..S-Sheryl..?" he croaked, and - /why/ did his mouth feel so damn parched? Then he noticed the juice on the tray next to his head, and cast Sheryl a questioning glance.
Sheryl couldn't help but smile at the boy's confused expression, grabbing the drink from the small tray and handing it to the teen, "Here, drink." He said gently, watching as Lavi cringed at the movement, "Dr. Wong said you might need...painkillers--at least for a while, but that your bones are in place and aren't...jutting out like...they used to." Which was highly disturbing when he chanced a glance at the x-rays--no /wonder/ the boy had been in so much pain!
"In other words you're fully healed, and when he comes back in here you'll get your first dosage. Though he said it might make you sleepy." He watched as the boy sipped the juice eagerly. Wiping his mouth with the palm of his hand before asking the obvious question everyone seemed to ask after falling asleep unexpectedly.
"......they put me under, didn't they?" Lavi asked, hesitantly. "I was....I wasn't tired, an' then suddenly I /was/, an'...gah, they didn't take my patch off, did they!?"
And suddenly the boy's hand flew up to his eye in a panic, a sharp gasp leaving his lips at the pain the too-quick movement brought him. He let out a sigh of relief, however, when he felt the familiar black leather still in place over his self-proclaimed deformity. Though, really - that meant nothing. They could have just put it back on....and paranoia was really getting him nowhere.
Shyly, he looked back up at Sheryl, smiling nervously. "Er......sorry..."
Sheryl's eyes widened at the boy's quick movement--and--he wasn't stupid. he remembered the boy's words from earlier (eyepatch...he had shown Kanda what was under it--what was...? No. He cut the question off before he could ask it)
"It's quite alright. And no I don't believe they did--considering...after all, it was your chest, not your face they're worried about. Oh, he did disinfect your shoulder--just incase." He could see the bandages clearly under the garments they had forced the boy into (he assumed after he conked out).
Then, suddenly, the doors banged open again, and in walked a doctor who looked highly too nervous for his own good.
"Ahh, good! You're awake now," Dr. Wong exlaimed as he walked in, smiling. Said smile fell instantly, when he was hit with the full power of Lavi's glare. "Er...well, I can tell you now, the surgery went very well. All your ribs are set back in place, and so long as you don't do anything too strenuous, they should heal wonderfully!"
"....you didn't touch my eyepatch did you?" Lavi seemed to have a onetrack mind, not even acknowledging the man's words.
"No, we didn't. We didn't need to, so you've no reason to worry. Your shoulder, though... It seems to be infected. So, alongside the painkillers, we're going to put you on some antibiotics, as well." He took a few more steps forward, and stopped beside the bed, handing two small sheets of paper to Sheryl. "Now, these medications are very strong, so you'll need a prescription to get them refilled, which is what I just gave to Mr. Kamelot."
"As for your first dose, it's right here," and he handed Lavi a small paper cup with two pills inside, as well as a slightly larger cup filled with water. The redhead looked at them warily, but took them. "We'll also give you the first month's worth, but after that, it'll be refills. I want you to take two of the painkillers per day - one when you wake up, and one when you go to bed. As for the antibiotics, take one each night before you sleep, and that's all
*. Do this for two months, and when we call you back for a check-up, we can decide if you'll need another month's perscritpion. Sound good?"
Lavi nodded. "Perfect. Can I /go/ now?"
