The Graveyard

The Graveyard: an extension of Yuri’s soul that is used to upgrade his fusion monsters and gain new powers. In the games it was also used as a plot points several times. Since I’m using it as part of the experiment, I figured it would be a good idea to describe it so people would know what they are getting into.

First of all due to the mistletoe curse, the Graveyard doesn’t really look much like a graveyard anymore. There is light here, although it’s not clear where it’s coming from. There are no walls unless otherwise stated. The area is surrounded by featureless dark gray mist. Any attempts to go past the paved areas will result in people running into invisible walls.

The Courtyard:
The entrance way to the Graveyard. The north, east and west sides have doors in the middles of them, although the doors don’t seem to lead anywhere until they are opened. The south side has an iron gate in it. This is the exit from the Graveyard, but only Yuri can open it. The ground is stone with stone tablets embedded in it randomly. This place is barren, expect for a tall wooden, tree-like pillar rising out of the center. High up on this tree you can see a Yuri look-alike embedded in the pillar. Only it’s head and bare upper chest are visible. ‘Yuri’ appears to be sleeping.

Elemental Doors:
The door on the left in the courtyard is the ‘Gateway to Heaven’ and the door on the right is the ‘Gateway to Hell’. Each of them are massive double door stone things covered with carvings showing the particular part of the afterlife they are connected too. They swing open very easily when they’re touched. Regardless of which one you pick, all you’ll see on the other side is much smaller courtyard like the one behind you, minus the tree thing. There are three doors besides the ‘Gateway door. The other three are smaller and feature abstract symbols that represent the elements. Hell has doors that represent water, darkness and earth while Heaven has doors that represent light, wind and fire. Through the elemental doors are tiny area’s that have only a small pedestal sitting on a metal square in the center of each room. On the pedestals are stones that have a glowing symbol that matches the door on them. Touching one of these stones will result in a very intense wave of emotion. Touching the earth stone brings an intense need to protect, water a eerie calmness, fire a brief rush of courage, wind a rush of happiness, light a merciful forgiving, feeling, and darkness a feeling of deep confusion. Sensitive people might notices there is a presence in the rooms, but since these monsters are under control, nothing will happen.

Door to the Labyrinth:
This is the third door that leads off the courtyard. It’s much smaller than the other two and is made of plain wood. On the other side of it is another bare area and two more doors. The door to the east is the door that leads to the castle of mirrors, the one to the north is the Door of Desires. Both are massive stone affairs, but the door to the castle is covered in carvings, while the Door of Desires is much plainer, although there is a circle carved in the center.

Castle of Mirrors: THIS AREA HAS MONSTERS.
Inside this are corridors that look as if the belong in an upper class mansion, or castle. This area guards the center of Amon’s power and keeps it from bleeding into the rest of Yuri’s soul. Since Yuri has mastered Amon, he never goes to this area anymore. Be careful, this area is filled with monsters and malice, and mirrors that serve as gateways into other rooms. Corridors loop back on each others and it can be very confusing and easy to get lost in if you haven’t been here before. If someone looks into one of the travel mirrors, the magic in the mirror will activate, and the characters reflection will come alive. Any physical abilities the character has will be duplicated and the reflection will attempt to attack everything in sight. Both monsters and the reflections can kill people but since their primary roles are to be guardians, they will let your character go if they try to run away.    This area can kill people who are unprepared or act foolish.

Door of Desires:
This is the door that leads to the innermost area of Yuri’s heart. Only Yuri himself or Jeanne can open it to allow people inside. On the other side of the door is another bare courtyard…and the illusion of a beautiful sunset over a hill floating in the air. Sensitive people might catching a glimpse of a young woman in blue or a young man who looks very much like Yuri, dressed in a long military coat. These are just fragments of memories that are very, very important to Yuri.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aside from the obvious dangers like the Castle of Mirrors, there are beings that live in Yuri’s mind. The pose a different kind of danger, since they prefer mental attacks.  These beings can appear in any area of Yuri's mind.

The Masks:
Four spirits that have been haunting Yuri for a while now. They were gods being worshiped in a small village in China, but when Yuri destroyed their physical forms, they invaded his pshcye.  Each of them is surrounded by a cloud of glowing fog the color of the mask itself.

Grail Mask: A floating blue mask that looks a bit like a fish with a grail on the top of it’s head.
Gold Mask: A green floating mask that looks like a lions head.
Staff Mask: A red floating mask that is square shaped with two tiny horn protrusions coming from it’s top corners.
Sword Mask: The leader, a floating golden mask that is shaped like a bird’s head with feathers radiating from the back of it. Looks faintly Mayan.

They can appear anywhere in the Graveyard and have a tendency to speak in turns.. Because this is a spiritual realm, they can see peoples deepest darkest secrets and torment people with them. They enjoy breaking people. They can teleport and are extremely hard to catch off guard. They are very, very good at determining how someone will react to what they say. If you do try to fight them, keep in mind that they have massive magical powers and will try to kill you if you, really, really, annoy them.

Jeanne:
She was the ghost of a little girl, and is now a part of Yuri’s subconscious. She still behaves much like a friendly  little girl and is terrified of the Masks. You will no see her in any area the masks are in. Like the Masks she too can see a characters deepest darkest secrets…but she will want to help. Which she will try to do by telling the characters the complete, unadorned truth about themselves. Depending on the character, Jeanne can be even more mentally damaging than the masks.

She use to live in a tiny village in France that Yuri was protecting from German soldiers during WWI. When the Sapientes Gladio order sent Nicolai to kill Yuri, she was one of the people killed by the Claw Soldiers since she had seen too much.
