Just another work update. I've now passed the security check, and the drug test, and have received the email saying I'm all cleared to begin work on Monday, Oct 10. I knew I would pass those things though-- this just makes it official. So, a little more info...
I'll be working for Republic Services, in their call center, taking front-line calls again, unfortunately. BUT, Republic pays their front-line agents about the same as I was getting paid as a team leader for Convergys. Once I work my way up to team leader again, they pay GOOD money. More than I've ever earned. Hopefully, my seven year's experience as a team leader for Convergys will count for something.
Here's the Glassdoor link to more info about the company, if you're interested.
https://www.glassdoor.com/Overview/Working-at-Republic-Services-EI_IE8328.11,28.htm If you don't have a Glassdoor account, I recommend it as a good resource when you're searching job information. Especially when you're confronted with that damned "What are your salary requirements?" question. Glass door has salary info, employee reviews, overall info on different companies, info on their interview questions and practices-- all sorts of good inside info.
Of course, LinkedIn is also good. There was only one time I couldn't find info on the person who would be interviewing me. I personally like to go into an interview having some insight on the person I'll be talking with. Forewarned is forearmed.
Of course, now that I have the job, I'll go back to my usual practice of never mentioning their name in "social media" again, for so long as I work for them. I have actually KNOWN people to get fired for things they put into social media about their job with the company. I suspect using the company's name just makes it easier for them to search what people are saying.
So, anyhoo... A week-and-a-half then I'll be back to work.
