I got a fandom meme from gabenut!
1. Comment on this post.
2. I will give you a letter.
3. Think of 5 fictional characters whose name starts with that letter and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.
I got the letter F. I came up with one immediately (of course!), and I thought, "This will be easy!" But the other 4 took me a while. Not many names start with F. :P
1. FAKIR
I loooooove Fakir. He's cute, but real. He commits himself wholeheartedly to whatever he's doing, and it takes a lot of work to sway him. If something else is presented to him as a better option, he has to be fully convinced before changing - and when he does, he changes completely. I think there are too many instances in fiction where a character switches gears too easily, just because the writer knows what the right path is, and doesn't bother actually giving reasons to change the character's mind. Also, he's very sassy. XD
2. FUKA
As a lesser-known character from an underappreciated series (Kodocha), I think Fuka doesn't get enough love. Here she is screaming at Akito, shortly after slapping him. XD I think Fuka gets an inordinate amount of hate, being seen as the one who gets in between Akito and Sana. But to tell the truth, lots of people get between them over the course of the show (it's anime, for crying out loud, it's nothing BUT people getting between them), and Fuka serves as the final catalyst that gets them in action. Besides that, Fuka is one who can really see how much Akito and Sana need each other, and in the end, she's the one who pushes them together - at the expense of her own love for Akito. I don't think they actually WOULD have gotten together without Fuka, and I liked that at the end, they were all still BFF. Aww.
3. FANG
Ah, Dave the Barbarian. Why did they move you to 2am? Thank goodness for TiVo! Fang is the scrawny little sister who always insists on how tough she is - even though she's so small she's still pretty useless. I especially love the references that she's more girly than she lets on, like when a monster of some sort takes a turret of their castle, and she cries, "No, my room! All my dollies are in there!" Then, when everyone gives her a weird look, she says, "I mean, um...all my....weapons!"
4. FEMIO
Another Princess Tutu fellow, though he's only around for one episode. Femio is adorable and hilarious, and part of me wonders if he wasn't a bit of inspiration for Tamaki (Princess Tutu came out a year before Ouran started). He is the self-proclaimed prince, able to give the deepest, purest love to all the ladies of the world - though he considers his beauty a scourge upon the earth because it causes such pain to look on him and know he can never belong to one woman alone. (Sound familiar?) Femio is very similar to Tamaki in that he's got a personality that, unless done perfectly, would come across as arrogant, obnoxious, and infuriating. Femio and Tamaki both hit that difficult mark spot on, and instead are adorable, innocent, and endearing.
5. FRANZ
So I could only find a smallish picture with a weird frame that had a decent image of Franz. He was the last one I came up with, while I was in bed looking at my Gankutsuou wall scroll. :D Franz is a very sympathetic character - he has to spend the majority of the anime watching his BFF Albert falling under the spell of the Count of Monte Cristo, who for some reason only Franz can tell has very wicked intentions. Franz has hardly any role at all in the original book, or in any of the movies made from it, but I like his upgrade in Gankutsuou. He struck me as a very sad character, focusing a little too much on others and not enough on himself. The entire show was about the individual characters and what they secretly wanted, and while there were hints, I think what Franz wanted never really came to light - I don't think he found himself important enough.
