Some things I have Learnt This Week...
1. It's a stupid idea to develop a mindnumbing crush on the Student's Union President during Freshers' week. This is because his picture is everywhere and even though he is very cute, it gets pretty annoying and because he is very cute and a bit of a manwhore even cuter fresher girls are going to hit on him and make you jealous. (By the way, you all get 10 gossip points if you've just thought about googling him and 20 if you've done it!)
2. Sometimes it's really fucking hard to think good feminist thoughts about other women. Namely those women who steal your boy crush from before your eyes on a night out, having been egged on by their gay best friend who will then put photos of the incident on facebook, so you can relive the moment photo-story-style, while trying not the throw your laptop at someone in a teen-angst style rage. I'm not proud of it, but my most used phrase today has been "that fat slag from Ipswich". BAD FEMINIST ALEX.
But then, she is a much worse one (I doubt she even knows the meaning of the word...), so I guess my feminist karma will recover pretty quickly
3. When you live with 5 other people, they will all know the second that you develop a crush. Especially if this crush developed overnight when you kinda let him sleep in your bed after a party. And then they will not believe that nothing happened. And then they'll call you names which combine his name with the word "Shagger". We have pretty much reverted to teenage behaviour here.
4. Crush based angst has, however, reawakened my poetry writing abilities, which is quite nice really.
5. I really like the Open University. I've been doing some of my literature work (trying to get a head start because I've realised how much work I've actually got to do!). I love the way you get a text book that's kinda like lectures, but it's a book and you can read it in bed, or watching neighbours. And it's just better then a certain department of a certain university that fucks it's students over royally!
6. Getting a speeding ticket has made me feel strangely grown up. I think it's something to do with breaking laws. The £60 fine is a bitch, but the points on my license make me feel cool... I'm pretty sure they are meant to have the opposite affect!
