Free time.
I have free time.
I'm still adjusting to the idea, and what free time I have I'm wasting amazingly by playing my Nintendo DS and sleeping too much when I should be preparing for exams. However, I have it, and it's amazing. After months of production meetings, rehearsals, paperwork, and all-nighters in the Drake Union, tech week arrived. Tech week exploded into shows. The show closed down at Ohio State, moved to Schiller Park, and more tech rehearsals. And then the show opened again, and got rained out twice, and now here I sit, enjoying my 2nd completely free and clear day in months (aside from classes anyway). Well, I have a post-production meeting at 3:30pm today, but all I need to do is show up. No work required really!
Man, it's been crazy juggling classwork and stage managing; more often than not the show won out and my classes (and sleep) suffered, but hey. I'm alive, no one died, nothing exploded, and the show got a rave review in The Columbus Dispatch.
Anyway -- Mary Stuart re-opens after finals week at Schiller Park in German Village of Columbus. If anyone is interested, we run June 7-17, Thursday-Sunday evenings at 8pm. Shows are free. Bring booze, bring food, bring blankets, bring whatever.
So. Time to buckle down for a few more days, blast through this last week of classes, present my final acting scene (boo acting), write some stupid ass final paper on Dadaism, TRY TO FIND ANOTHER JOB (turns out working for peanuts as a semi-professional theatre lackey is not enough to pay the bills, gee), and then ... oh my god SUMMER!!! And a SCUBA trip with my Dad! (Which I'm suitably nervous about. Wearing skimpy amounts of clothing often is no fun. Especially with ghostly white skin and X amount of ugly scars all over... sigh.) And maybe even a few trips here and there to try and find an internship/fellowship stage management program in a reasonably cool and affordable city. It's looking like Carlos and I will hit up Toronto to check out an internship or two and enjoy Toronto Pride! (The day after I get paid for stage managing Mary Stuart, hooray!)
Some important summer plans: read more comic books, play lots of frisbee (and get better at it), go out clubbing, go to Put-in-Bay island, go to Cedar Point, kick some bad habits, muck around in a creek, visit some folks in Bay, see a show in Philly, see my cousin Kate!, work out more, read more books for the love of god, etc.
By the way, I'm a vegetarian now. Woo!
My Dad gave me his old work laptop. I named her Ethel (after Ethel Rosenberg). She rocks.
Too lazy to write more.
