So, as some of you might know, I moved to Albuquerque, NM in Sept for an AmeriCorps job teaching underprivileged (bratty) kids art. The job is really fun most days and kind of devastating others. New Mexico is really cool--the landscape kind of feels like another planet... especially when you see some of the vegetation.
For Thanksgiving, I went to White Sands (it looks the way Saturn probably looks). Myself and some of my AmeriCorps fellows (partners in fighting terrorism through art.... yea, somewhere in our AmeriCorps contract is something about how we are Homeland Security too... by the way) initiated a random photoshoot in the desert.... which evolved into a "site specific improvisational interpretive dance" video as well. We found some hollowed out places which we aptly called "earthginas" and one of the "performances" involved my friends as air & fire... pod babies. So yea... coming to facebook soon.
I spend most of my time here participating in random found art installations on the University of New Mexico campus... and going to my roommate's shows... which are great on account of the free beer. Oh, and last weekend I worked 12 hours helping out for a piece of African modern dance (from the Democratic Republic of Congo specifically) which was very politically charged. It was about the effects of Post-Colonialism and the dictator/president they had over there for 30 years. Also, I got to chauffeur the sexy African dancers around town. :)
More updates to follow soon... I keep reminding myself that I need to update this thing more than once a millenia...
