“Ahhh!”
Ron’s voice cracked as he shrieked bloody murder. Harry’s eyes widened. His hand gripped his wand.
“Resistance is futile,” Lupin was saying.
Harry couldn’t hear. The drone in his ears that said, Uh, you know you’re going to die, any second now, right? was much too loud. He trained his wand on Lupin.
“…during a full moon because-”
“I’m sorry, Professor,” Harry began.
Lupin blinked. “Harry…”
“I really am,” said Harry loudly.
“But Harry-”
The tip of the wand crackled.
And at that particular moment in time, by sheer and utter coincidence, Hermione burst in. “Harry!”
Ron gaped at her. “We’re about to become werewolf kibble and all you can say is ‘Harry’?!”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Weasley,” said Lupin, “I’m sure the next word to come out of Miss Granger’s mouth will be ‘Ron.’”
“…Did you just talk about Hermione’s mouth?”
“Ron, get out of the way! I’m trying to get a good shot here-”
(Deep breaths now, Hermione. That’s it, there’s a good girl. The sky is blue; the grass is green.)
“There’s an eclipse tonight, you idiots!”
