my September recs
Last month I recced in stargateficrec for Vala and Daniel/Vala ;), here's my list:
Vala:
The Abyss by odette_river ; Odette changes how Daniel is separated from the team at the end of "The Quest, part 1" and how it affects all of them, the team, Daniel and of course Vala.
Without Fear of Wind or Vertigo (the Joker's Wild remix) by _minxy_ ; Besides being a wonderful episode tag for Unending, it's an absolutely brilliant look at Vala's character and her friendship with Teal'c. (and it's companion Jester's Silence by holdouttrout; the other side of this fic told in Teal'c pov and equally lovely.)
Fallout by gigerisgod ; It seems almost ironic to rec this for Vala, since it's primarily a Sam/Cam fic, but the author does such a superb Vala characterisation, really a team characterisation that it shouldn't be missed.
Motivating Vala to Succeed by sg_betty ; Beside the fact that it's Jack and Vala in one fic? It's almost like a showdown between two. Set during early season 10 it's a very nice fic showing what could be called the beginning of Vala's growth into a member of SG-1.
Daniel/Vala:
The Chinese Food Paradigm by 6beforelunch ; I love 6's Daniel/Vala fics. The way she present the character is simply lovely. She can take the small, randomest situations and just make magic. Beautiful Daniel/Vala shaped magic and this fic is no different.
It Must Be Our Lucky Night by squeelated ; This is just a fun and awesome fic! Basically like the author says: Sam and Vala get lucky. And Daniel gets drunk. The Daniel/Vala bits come into play around the middle of the fic, but before we get to them we're treated with some awesome Sam & Vala friendship and them being overall kick ass as they look to get out of a sticky (and slightly drunk) situation.
Loss by matt1969 ; This is wonderful fic set after The Shourd we have a short and lovely moment where Daniel seeks out Vala and to his own surprise comforts her, sharing his past with Shifu.
