Cutting in line in front of Busmalis, Keller sidled up to Said. “I’ve been meaning to say thank you.”
“What could you possibly want to thank me for Keller?”
Keller leaned in close. “Because of you Said, Beecher *forgave* me,” he said with the sincerity only a con man could fake.
“And how do you repay that act, that kindness, by getting Beecher thrown in the Hole?”
Chris leered, his words heavy with innuendo. “Oh believe me, Beecher don’t do nothing he don’t want to do.”
Said turned and shuddered with disgust.
Chris’s grin widened. “Was it something I said?”
