HT100 Challenge #68 -- Resolved!

Jan 10, 2005 20:26

My first stab at a challenge here. I feel like Beecher on his first day. That's never a good thing. It's a little over the limit, but considering it used to be double the size, I'm happy. It also stretches the challenge meaning a bit I think, since it doesn't take place *in* Oz or exactly on New Year's but after. Oh dear...I'm going to need phone ( Read more... )

Thanks muchly! Heh, it was rather intimidating posting here for the first time, even if it was just a drabble.

Oooh, this is fantastic. You really capture the feeling of Miguel on the run.

The desperate fear of the wild escaped from the zoo, burn of the still hunted.

I love the above line. With how much Miguel hated being caged, that line really conveys that intensity of his need to stay free.

Great answer to the challenge.

Phew. I'm glad it was received well. Thanks so much for the support, sweetness! (Sorry, I call people that, heh. No offense meant, but you *are* sweet. :) )

I love the above line.

Thanks! That's one of the good things about drabbles, it makes you condense for maximum impact. That started out as like two or three lines, and I'm glad it works better this way. Drabbles may make me tear my hair out, but they do force me to be less wordy and more succinct. ;)

Good Job!

Reveling at just the lack of walls.

This sounds just like Miguel and his passion for open spaces. I love that line. Good first drabble!

Aww, thanks! I'm done hyperventilating now. Until I try to post my Flash Fic, anyway. ;)

Welcome! Oh, I like this a lot -- the form (brisk, short sentences) serves to accentuate the feeling of freedom and relief -- almost like each line is a thought between catching breaths. Neat.

You know, we don't get much about Alvarez on his jailbreak. Could make for a good longer piece... Just sayin'. *g*

Thanks for the welcome and the fb! This is turning out to be the most open, sweet fandom. It just has so many drop dead great authors, it can be a leetle scary for someone like me.

Hee. I've been wanting to write something about that for a long time, but could never come up with a full fic. This challenge sparked something finally though, which made me so happy. I'm still holding out for an idea for something longer. There's one song on a soundtrack that always makes me think about Miguel's escape (Um...think it's called State Trooper by Bruce Springsteen.) It's what I was listening to when I thought this through, I'll have to put it on repeat one day and really try, heh.
