HT100 Challenge #68 -- Resolved!

Jan 10, 2005 20:26

My first stab at a challenge here. I feel like Beecher on his first day. That's never a good thing. It's a little over the limit, but considering it used to be double the size, I'm happy. It also stretches the challenge meaning a bit I think, since it doesn't take place *in* Oz or exactly on New Year's but after. Oh dear...I'm going to need phone book armor, aren't I?

The scrounged up cigarette was the spark guiding Miguel's cold night in the new year, warming his lungs. He'd had no resolutions before; he hadn't even been sure which day was actually New Year's in viewless solitary.

No future.

No chance.

Miguel had plenty of shit now.

The desperate fear of the wild escaped from the zoo, burn of the still hunted. Reveling at just the lack of walls. Escape driving him.

The thrill of brisk air.

He had the clothes on his back, warm hoodie hiding him.

Hope.

Freedom.

He finally made his resolution, for this fresh year, and all the following.

Stay out.

Run...until you can finally stop.
