"For the last two years Russell has distinguished himself as a director, tackling a massive and effective production of the musical URINETOWN and most recently, 70 SCENES OF HALLOWEEN. The latter staging is perhaps the best production, student or otherwise, that I've ever seen at Duke. Russell's ability to motivate his strong but jejune actors was evident but most impressive was his deep sense of just the right weight to read in the text and how to let it play. It's a skill I rarely see in veteran directors and never in a student one.
A continued development of this already admirable skill would only hone what's clearly so fiercely there. With pride for what Russell's done under our watch and with respect for your great program I hope you'll strongly consider joining forces. I know you won't regret the decision."
This was written by easily the best director at Duke. Needless to say, I am REALLY pleased.
For those of you who are unaware, I'm applying for a fellowship at Ohio State University for the M.A. in Theatre Studies. I REALLY want to get it.
