When did my life become normal? I was hanging out with some people from Transit last night when I realized that it was. I'm happy, enjoying my job and my schoolwork, doing well in school, and making lots of new friends. Probably some dating in my future too, and if you all tease me about it like you did with Brett I'll disown you and find some new friends. :-p
My first two semesters at UMass I was antisocial, miserable, and failing my classes. The summer after wasn't much better because I was paying off a loan and had no money whatsoever. Life started to improve some during the next fall semester when Shingu-sensei let me sit in on Japanese 120 even though I was on academic suspension. It improved further during last spring, when I got into Japanese 246 even though I hadn't officially taken the prerequisite, and then even more when I made friends with Jessiqa and some of the people who play DDR at the Hampshire Mall. The summer was then the same old thing, though working at the Yankee Candle factory actually helped improve my mood even though it sucked so much. Then all of sudden about two weeks or so into this semester I have many friends at UMass instead of one, and I'm having fun.
So for the past little while I've been wondering how this happened. I don't feel like a different person than I was those first two miserable semesters at UMass, but my mood has improved so drastically, it feels like there must be something different about me. I haven't dreaded getting up and going to classes more than once or twice this semester, which has never been the case. (Though to be perfectly honest I dread going to my math class, it's just not the first class of the day.)
I don't really have anything else to say... I just realized that I was amazed about this and wanted to share.
