Happy birthday to my sweet buddy, Beebs. He's is six years old today. This is where he is at in life...
Started kindergarten this year. He's doing well but gets in trouble for things like talking, whacking people with his lunch bag and not saying "here" when the teacher calls roll because, "you can see me. You already know I'm here."
He is awesome at riding his bike (without training wheels) and is starting to attempt nifty tricks like standing up and pedaling.
He is pretty good at playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii.
He likes to build Lego spaceships of his own design and they are impressive. He reminds me often of his Uncle JR who used to craft fabulous mechanical creations out of legos and construx. Remember construx?
He can do impressions. He can make the noises of all the different spaceships on the Star Wars movies. He can imitate the voices of all the characters on the Lion King.
Jake can color like nobody's business. That kid will not walk away from a half colored picture. If he has a blank piece of paper and you tell him to draw Earth, He will draw a detailed Earth and then spend an hour coloring black space all around it.
He always wonders if he's dreaming. For some reason he pinches his nipples to see if he's awake.
He's kind of hesitant about trying new, scary things. For this entire past year he would decline to do something (the big water slide, going all the way across the monkey bars, riding the 4 wheeler alone...) and would assure us he would do it when he was six. I'm pretty sure he thought SIX was never going to come. We'll SIX is here and debts are coming due buddy. Get ready for the most terrifying year of your life.
Jake is awesome at math. He just gets it. Numbers make sense to him. The kid can do basic algebra. I can't calculate a tip.
He can get himself dressed, brush his own teeth, comb his own hair and buckle his own seat belt, but I still make him drink out of a sippy cup because I'm a crazy person.
His favorite food is Top Ramen and that is the feast I've been comissioned to cook for him tonight for his birthday meal.
He's obsessed with guns. Everything is a gun and everyone is a bad guy. I get shot daily.
He loves talking about God and Jesus. He "reads" his Bible in bed every night and it doesn't have pictures. I have actually said out loud, "stop reading your bible and go to sleep!"
He is so smart and sweet and handsome. He's a little lippy, but then again, so is his father.
Happy birthday sweet Bubba!
