Tommy: Hedwig! When Eve was still inside Adam, they were in paradise.
Hedwig: That's right, honey.
Tommy: When she was separated from him, that's when paradise was lost ...So when she enters him again, paradise will be regained!
Hedwig: However you want it, honey, just kiss me while we do it.
~Hedwig and the Angry Inch (Which I watched last night and which was WEIRD. It was good, until the end when it got confusing…)
Last weekend was one of the best times of my life so far. I don’t even think that statement is an exaggeration. My childhood is way too high up on the top of a glittering pedestal for me to be certain of this but I don’t think this weekend was any less fun. Here’s a metaphore to explain this (or simile, rather): It’s like… if my childhood was a big, ripe orange that I stealthily snuck into someone’s backyard to climb up the tree and pick myself, took it to my Mom, and she then “cut it like a grapefruit” so that it was easy to eat just the delicious juicy parts with a grapefruit spoon while playing Super Mario World, then this weekend was a shiny macintosh apple which had decorated my kitchen table for weeks while it ripened to perfection, and had the most satisfying crunch when I bit into it (apple-eating is one of the best noises!). - And even though paradise was lost it doesn’t even matter, because the apple was SO worth it! And anyways, the act of eating the apple was in itself a kind of paradise…
So there you have it. Apples to oranges but neither one of lesser value. Now, on to my weekend:
So Dan and I are dating now. Once we discovered that he used to read my LJ we just got closer and closer until... Well apparently he had been wanting to date me the whole time, and I had no idea. And I don’t know WHY it took me as long as it did to realize that he is everything I’ve always wanted in a guy. Oh man, I like him so much! It’s so great, it’s like I’m dating my best friend :)
He came in to Boston Wednesday night and we stayed in and celebrated his 23rd birthday! What great night. I gave him my grinder and some loose-leaf tea, and we had hookah and Super Mario World and burritos and “carmel sutra” Ben & Jerry’s MMMmmmm…. and he introduced me to this really good beer called Hoegaarden.
Dan is somewhat of a beer connoisseur. I like it, as I am a big fan of beer, but I am too scared to experiment by myself because there are too many nasty bitter ones out there to mess around with that type of thing. I usually just stick with the Bud Light, but not with him around! Not only does he know about beer, but he knows about EVERYTHING ELSE, too.
Holy shit that kid is a walking scientific journal.
Thursday we ended up spending the night at his friends’ house out in Quincy. They are so nice!!!
Friday we came back in time to clean the apartment and Lizz and I prepared lotsa good snacks and sangria and got ready for the sex toy party. It was more fun than I was expecting, and after desperately searching for guys, we actually ended up having many more guys than girls! But nobody bought any sex toys, which was sad for Katheryn (<-the girl who did the presentation).
Saturday we passed the time by doing NOTHING all day!!! It was sunny so we went to the park and then made some gourmet mac & cheese (Dan is also a great cook. He's perfect! :) and took it to these kids' pot luck. Which was slightly boring... good food though. Lizz and Greg had left for the weekend, so we had the apartment all to ourselves, which was convenient for Sunday:
(See next post for Sunday. If you can't see it, that's because we aren't LiveJournal friends.)
