Great honk

Wow...it's been an amazing few days.

First off, I went to see Billy Joel on Thursday with my brother. Ohhhh man it was great. One of those greatest nights of my life (another of which being seeing Paul McCartney). Something about seeing someone play live that you listen to so much, whose music you love...I don't know, it's amazing. I love all of Billy Joel's stuff, but the one song I wanted to see/hear him play live above all was "Angry Young Man." If you've never heard it, it opens with this ridiculously fast piano thing, with like sixteenth notes on middle C faster than ice. Which is like a harder than playing a bunch of different notes, because in order for the key to react you have to play like really fast. My brother and I were talking about this before the show, and as it was starting, this weird kind of orchestral music came through the speakers. The lights were out...in the darkness you can make out the piano rising from below the stage...and he launches right into "Angry Young Man." I was soo psyched. And even better, the cameras zoomed in on his hands...and I still think it's impossible how he plays that fast.

He played really great stuff (as if he had anything else). My brother's fav's were of course "Big Shot" where he walks around and acts like crazy with the mic stand and "We Didn't Start the Fire." He forgot a verse in "Movin' Out" and his sax players were like "what the fat" and he was like "oh cromp...oh well, I wrote it, I'm changing it now." LOL oh man, and in "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant" he changed the line "A bottle of red, a bottle of white, whatever kind of mood you're in tonight" to "A bottle of red, a bottle of white, I won't be drinking any wine tonight." Haha drunk bongstard. He didn't play "Crashing town" but he did play "Allentown, so I guess that was alright hahaha.

So the concert went smoothly...we found our way there and back again with no problems. I was a little nervous since I don't know the city and I hate being there, but it was worth it/easy anyway.

Friday I had my first saxophone lesson ever. My teacher's really cool and it seems like it'll be fun. I hope I learn a lot. He's mad bomb though, I already know. I asked him which saxes he played the most and his response was like "well, mostly alto and tenor, depending on what I'm playing. Like if I'm playing bebop...something like this--" and he busted out this crazy Charlie Parker-esque run of notes like it was nothing -- "Then the alto is the horn for that kind of stuff" and I was just thinking "whatever, you're mad good." Oh yeah, and at the end of the lesson he was saying how playing piano helped him with chords and I was like "yeah, I play that too now and it's helped me." And he started playing "Just the way you are" (Billy Joel) and I was like "man I saw Billy Joel last night, it was awesome" and he was like "No way...did he do the song like this--" and he starting moving his hands really fast (meaning Angry Young Man) and I was like "he opened with it" and then we both tried to play it on piano but we weren't fast enough to do it jongstice.

Friday night, I went to TB/KFC with Wes, Steve and Chuck. We got our food, then I was still hungry, and the line was wayyyyyy too long to get something else, but there's some new hot dog place across the street and we walked to it. There were people in there working and eating and the door was locked! They wouldn't let us in. One woman eating there just looked at me and kind of shrugged her shoulders lol.

Later I watched Constantine with Tony, Lauren, and Alex. Pretty good movie...the BEST part lol...SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, BE CAREFUL: After going into hell to look for this woman's sister, Constantine comes back all intense like and the woman is like "what happened? what happened? did you see her?!" all panicky. And he looks at her seriously and goes "I need to eat." I was rolllinnnnnnggg.

Saturday I got up and played hockey. It was a big game. 12 kids showed up to play. It drizzled at first, which became rain, and it was hard to skate...kinda like using rollerblades ON ice. It was so slippery. But it was cool, cuz it made the good skaters worse. We got taco bell after (twice in two days) and went back to schongl.

That night I hung out with Steve, Jen, and Tony watching Rick James episode of Chappelle and then Aqua Teen. And oh man, what a night it became. Norwalk people would be proud. We got ridonkulously d and went to stop and shop to buy stuff to grill. Danielle requested earlier that we get frozen soft pretzels (which I didn't know existed) and we of course went for the standard burgers and bratwurst
as well as BACON and the pretzels. So we came back and grilled, and made burger/cheese/bratwurst sandwiches on bagel bread...soooooo good. And we grilled up some pretzels. Also mad good, though the first one we didn't do well...part of it was really hot so we took it off, but other parts were cold as ice.

Afterwards Jen and Steve and I decided to go skating. We went up to Jen's house to get her skates, but and we came back and got skates from Chuck and Alex's room. Chuck watched while we skated around Claver, going up and down elevators, around the halls and lounges and eventually outside, which s-ed. We came back in and I think got Danielle to come with us to the lounge and we set up a chair to jump over hahaha. We did a couple times. Steve broke his glasses (again!) and I actually landed one of the jumps. There should be a video of Steve and I posing for a picture cuz we thought Danielle was taking a still and then she's like "do something" and the battery ran out haha. Oh it was so extreme.

Sunday I slept mad late, then fell asleep later in the day reading. I went downstairs to see Super Bowl half time with the Rolling Stones (they played Satisfaction!! yesss!) and then went next door to grill the bacon we got the night before!! Haha it was soooooo good, but it took really long to cook on the Foreman.

Monday was a standard class filled day as was today. I know I'm missing a lot, but this weekend/week was tons of fun. Anyways, too tired now.
