Time to catch up with livejournal!

Let's see, what has happened since Christmas? In the afternoon of Christmas day, SAM got a weird rash all over his torso and some of his legs. His cheeks were bright red. I guess he's trying to make it a tradition to get a rash on Christmas? Last year he had chicken pox. It's better than his first Christmas, when he was still recovering from the horrible noravirus of doom, which he gave to EVERYONE. :) I think he was healthy for his second Christmas, at least. Anyway, I would have thought this rash was Fifth disease (which made me a bit nervous, but it's pretty harmless in the third trimester), except that I was pretty sure he got that when he was a baby. It didn't last long enough for that, though, and it didn't seem to match any of the other common rash viruses. Our best guess is that we should have washed his new Christmas pajamas before letting him wear them all night and day... Oops.

Hoshiadam and I had our ninth anniversary, which was pretty neat. :) We got ourselves a new exercise bike for an anniversary present.

Lately SAM has been making up his own swear words. I suppose that since he hasn't learned any real ones, he had to fill in the gap somehow. Are swear words one of the universal needs of mankind, perhaps? He likes to say, "Puff that!" and similar phrases. :)

The midwife asked SAM what he got for Christmas, and he said, "A robe! It's red." :) Robes are better than castles and puzzles and even Legos, it seems.

I've started re-reading the Wheel of Time series. :) I figure by the time I finish (since I'll be reading several other books in between each WoT one), the series might be finished. I wouldn't remember all these thousands of characters without rereading anyway - I'm not betting on my chances even so. :)

SAM's birthday was quite fun. We had a dinosaur party, and all the neighbors came. We had nine kids, from 3 to 10, running around like crazy things. :) Adam set up the downstairs by hanging cloth on the shelves and around the table, to make a dinosaur valley, with a cave under the table. On top of the table he set up an awesome volcano, and he scattered old miniatures terrain pieces around, with all SAM's dinosaur toys. Some of the walls got torn down pretty quickly, but it was a hit. We had a game with holes of different shapes making dinosaur mouths in a piece of cardboard, and the kids could throw packets to feed the dinosaurs, but a much bigger hit was the game the kids made of rolling on my exercise ball and crashing into the Lovesac (giant beanbag chair). Luckily no one was killed. :) We had Pin the Spike on the Stegosaurus, which was fun, with all the kids trying to steer the blindfolded one to the right spot. We had art supplies set out and coloring pages from one of SAM's coloring books (he never colors them, I figured we might as well try to get some use out of them), but those didn't see a whole lot of use. We made binoculars out of toilet paper tubes and scrap string. (Very easy craft, by the way, all you need is tape.) The kids did have fun decorating those. Then it was cake time. The cake was awesome as usual - hoshiadam made a very cute dinosaur. I wasn't enthused about the taste of the cake; I've got to quit trying new recipes when lots of people are going to be eating it. :) It was as healthy as a chocolate cake gets, I think, but the texture was a bit off. People said they liked it, so I guess it wasn't too bad - I don't like cake much anyway, so I'm a bad judge. The ice cream was good, and we didn't poison the boy with peanut allergies, yay. :) Then we had a dinosaur egg hunt, and the prizes inside the eggs were the party favors for the kids. They had fun. We're going to need new eggs for next Easter, though. :)

Before the party we went on a huge cleaning spree, with lots and lots of help from my mom and dad. The house has never been this clean, even with the post-party destruction. We continued the cleaning trend after the party and got the master bedroom and bathroom presentable (and sparkly) for the midwife home visit today. It's very nice! Now, to keep the entire house clean until the baby arrives... :)

I'm 36 weeks now, at least according to my LMP due date, and feeling a lot more relaxed. :) Note to baby: this does not mean to get born now. My mom is heading to Panama tomorrow and hoshiadam is going to Atlanta for the one-days. This weekend would be inconvenient. Please wait until February, kthx. Things are starting to come together, we have most of the major things ready! We just have to fill our the corners of the cloth diaper stash, and decide on a name at some point. We have some strong contenders finally in the name arena, but I'm feeling unwilling to commit to choosing for sure.

I've gotten my birth music playlist down to two and a half days of songs now. :)
