I never have time to post these days, but I have been doing better on other things, like cleaning my house. :)
We had a good party for SAM and DAT. Several people couldn't make it because of sickness or not-wanting-to-get sickness, but in the end DAT already had it anyway. :P But the boys still had lots of fun, and wayferny's bird-themed activities went well. And hoshiadam made an awesome cake, just wait until I someday post pictures. :)
Now we all have the sniffles, bleh. But we'll survive. The other night SAM woke up, and I went in and said something about getting back in bed and going to sleep. He said, in the most pitiful voice ever, "It's hard because I have the sniffles." Poor boy.
So, it's probably obvious now that all my weight-losing of the past months was to get ready to gain it all back again. :) It's been weird, though, I'm having to adjust to eating larger portions again. I didn't know I'd gotten so used to eating small amounts. I'm trying not to go overboard and overeat to make up for losing weight. :) It will take some fine-tuning to end up unstuffed and also fully nutrified, but I think I might be getting the hang of it.
I'm following the Brewer's diet, mostly, which emphasizes getting enough protein to support the baby and all it's support systems, including the increased blood volume the mother needs. I'll be getting a few more orange vegetables than it requires, and probably not as many potatoes as it recommends, but I think it will work out. :) I think I've gotten a better handle on my leafy greens, now that I've been to the store. I'm making spinach soup tonight, from a recipe that was in my mystery Better Homes and Gardens magazine. I'm still having trouble getting grains. I hardly ever eat bread or anything grain-like. But I'll get used to it.
Last pregnancy, I ate quite well, but that doesn't mean there's no room for improvement. In the past year I've switched to eating almost only organic foods. Luckily the Kroger right near us has a very good selection. And I think I'm almost 100% artificial ingredient free - even my vitamins are good, though I can't afford the organic ones. I can only think of three times since I've been pregnant that I had anything artificial, knowingly at least. :) So that's pretty good. I'm not ready to do the really super healthy thing and get away from sugar very thoroughly, but I am going to cut out most chocolate this time. Last time I didn't restrict that at all, and it does have caffeine and theobromine. I'm not cutting it entirely, but I won't be having my strawberries and chocolate every night either, this time. :) I'm thinking once a month will be enough, and only when I can find organic strawberries.
This may sound a bit restrictive, but I've been mostly doing it for several months already. I feel good about it. :)
I'm freezing all the time! I need to wear my long johns every day. *sigh* By the time my little interior generator is big enough to help, it will probably be warm already. :P I don't know how this summer pregnancy thing is going to work out, perhaps I'll spend the entire summer in the pool. :)
Now to go try making that spinach soup. Here's hoping a hand-held blender can stand in for a food processor, I don't want to mess with pouring things in and out of containers.
