Back from Montreal...

Actually, I've been back since yesterday, but I was in Montreal over the weekend to see my dad's side of the family. Met the aunts, the uncles, the multitude of cousins, etc. So, I guess the long and short of it:

- Conversed with several cousins
- Discussed demolition and asbestos. Apparently, there's some research into asbestos possibly abosrbing CO2, but it's just preliminary right now. And before you ask, "Isn't asbestos harmful?", the answer is: Not the kind they're using. It's the REFINED asbestos that's poisonous, not the raw material that was mined out. That's why my uncles and grandfather didn't contract mesothelioma (the disease advertised on TV)
- Find out a cousin is bisexual. Frankly, I could've cared less about it, but the older folks (including my father) would have a problem with it were it made light, so I kept it to myself. There's people like that no matter where you go, American or Canadian (one of my dad's sisters despised blacks, believe it or not), but the way I see it, how good a person you are doesn't depend on what gender gets you off (yes, it's extremely crude of me to say it this way, but I don't like speaking seriously if I don't have to)
- Sampled awesome Canadian food, specifically poutine and pizza (they don't make Canadian pizza like they do in the States)

Next week, clinical starts. I'm looking forward to it (anything's better than being in class), but until then, I'm gonna enjoy the rest of this week and read more books. I've read 4 novels since break started, and am now on a fifth. There's also another matter to think about:

I need to figure what con I want to check out next year after graduation. Since I'm probably gonna drive to school for my final year (it'll save money), so my choices run to Dragon*Con or San Diego Comic-Con. In the end, it runs to when I take my board exam. Considering the pitch Taylor (a girl I met at AX) made for Comic-Con, I think I'm gonna head there. I really want to go back to California, too, since I met several great folks at AX and want to see them again. It'd give me another chance to check out the state, if only briefly.

I'll have the con report up by the end of the week, and I'll try to get some pics of Batman pre-AX up before then.
