Hi boys! Welcome back! Hey Gordon! Welcome back too! I love you, Gordon! I love you, Dean!
Okay, can we take it as read now that Dean's a pothead? I mean, Moby Dick's bong and Amsterdam. I know that I'm Californian and I'm from Santa Cruz and both areas have a reputation for being, um, permissive about such things (I had a friend get stopped by a cop who found his stash, pinched off of it, and let him go) but dude. For real. That would be AWESOME. I would say that there needs to be more stoned!Dean fics but, you know, I don't think there are a lot of stoners in fandom in general. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I feel a little lonely sometimes, but really. Accuracy is important.
I have an unholy love for Gordon. If I was young and impressionable (which I clearly am, based on how much I think Gordon ROCKS), then I would so be signed up for that crazy train. That guy is charismatic and hypnotic when he talks. I can't wait for him to lead the hunters against the Winchesters in a holy war. That's gonna be AWESOME.
No more Jo? Really? Dude, Kripke, we changed our minds. We LIKE Jo now. Seriously, you did a kickass job with her in No Exit and I was looking forward to her coming back. I like the little sister thing; not so much because I hated her and Dean but dude, she's REALLY young looking and it was kinda skeevy. But really. Put Jo back.
You know, I wasn't let down at all by the secret. I wasn't really expecting to get anything really enormous dumped on us; that isn't really the way Kripke works, as he is so the master of the cliffhanger, plus, you know, I really appreciated the emotional weight of having a secret like that. I don't really want to talk about it in detail, but I wished someone harm once and later found out that what I'd wished for had come true, and even the thought of it was really, really, profoundly awful. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And although I've been seeing the idea on my flist a lot, I don't think that Dean or Sam has ever once considered the possibility that they'd have to kill the other on a job. I mean, we've actually SEEN what happens when one of them is a clear danger to everyone around them and needs to be put down: Dean gives his car/home to total strangers, locks the world away and waits for death with Sam. He would never hurt Sam, no matter what the danger was to himself, and the only person in the entire world who would ever get him to even CONSIDER it would be John. Man, that's a fucked up position to be, especially with all of Dean's attendant family issues.
Man, I'm so glad that "the secret" is out of the way so that I know I don't have to include it in the fic I'm working on, because that was really bothering me.
Also, something AWESOME: my coworker saw Janis Joplin play a concert in Marin, back before Big Brother and the Holding Company even got famous. I had no idea my coworker was so awesome, but we chatted about old school music for hours tonight. It was excellent. So now all y'all are three degrees away from Janis Joplin YAYE.
