The EDGE Academy: The Story Within Chapter One
“Kazu is going to join us this year, ne?” Nakamaru Yuuichi asks Ueda Tatsuya. Tatsuya just nods and continues reading his book.
“I can’t believe him. How he manages to skip a year is beyond me.” Yuuichi says, shaking his head.
“I always know he’s smart. It just sometimes he just likes to fool around too much.” Tatsuya explains.
“That’s because you have been spoiling him too much. I know you love him but could you please stop pampering him.” Yuuichi complains. Tatsuya just chuckles when he hears his friend.
“I guess you’re right. I can’t help it, ok. He’s just too cute for his own good. Even you can’t resists it when he starts pouting at you, remember?” Yuuichi glares at Tatsuya. “Oh, I remember alright. And it was you who teaches him the pout and the puppy dog eyes. I’m blaming you for it. You know I can’t resist it when you do it and you just have to teach Kazuya that skill too, didn’t you? I don’t even know why am I still friend with you two.” Yuuichi says, pouting.
Tatsuya just gives a low chuckle. “That’s because you love us.” Yuuichi just glares at his best friend.
“I wonder who’s going to be my roommate.” Yuuichi says with a thoughtful look on his face.
“I don’t care as long as it’s not Nishikido.” Tatsuya says with a scowl.
“I wonder why he likes to tease you so much.”
“That’s because he’s a jerk and a pain in the ass. And just because his father is one of the important politician, that doesn’t mean he can do anything that he likes.” Tatsuya snarls.
“I don’t think he is that bad. I think it just that the two of you just start with a wrong foot. I mean if he thinks highly of himself, he wouldn’t be friend with Yamapi, don’t you think?” Tatsuya just sighs, knowing what Yuuichi says is true but that doesn’t mean that he is agreeing with Yuuichi.
“Well, it’s getting late. I think I’m going to head back to my room. Besides, tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Academy, I’m sure there will be a lot to do.” Yuuichi says as he stands from where he is sitting.
“Yeah, I better get ready for bed too. Who know what Yamapi will do if we are late.” Tatsuya says, talking about the president of student council, while taking off his glasses.
“I still don’t understand why you wear that hideous spec? I mean, there are so many types of spec that you can choose but yet you still choose that one. The one that make you look completely like a nerd. Why hide your beautiful face?” Yuuichi asks, confuses with Tatsuya choice of spectacle.
“That is exactly the reason why I choose it, Yuu. I don’t want people to recognize me, of who I really am. Here in this academy, I’m Ueda Tatsuya. I don’t want people to know my real identity because then, they will expect things from me.” Tatsuya explains to his friend. Yuuichi just nods, understanding the reason. Since both of them were just a child, the teachers and also their classmates always depended on Tatsuya because of his family. Tatsuya comes from a very rich family and many of their classmates back then only being Tatsuya’s friend for their own benefits. Girls too tried to get close to him for his status and for fame. That’s why when both of them were accepted into the academy, Tatsuya decided to change his name. He uses his mother’s maiden name. At first Tatsuya’s stepfather object the idea. Even though Tatsuya is just his stepson, but he loves him just as his own. Especially since he married Tatsuya’s mother since Tatsuya is just a baby. But after Tatsuya explains his reasons, finally his stepfather agreed. And since the principal of the academy is Nakamaru Yuutaro, Yuuichi’s grandfather and also a good friend to Tatsuya’s family, they just change the name easily.
“Sometimes I really regret agreeing to join the student council committee. It just too much works to do. Like this, why are we the only one who have to come early while the others only arriving tomorrow?” Yuuichi complains.
“Stop complaining, Yuu. Just take it as a practice before you’re going out to the real world. After all, you’re the one who’s going to take your grandfather’s place one day.” Yuuichi just rolls his eyes and then went out of Tatsuya’s room.
“Goodnight Tatsuya. See you tomorrow.” He says as he close the door. Tatsuya just smiles and turn off the light.

“To all new student of EDGE Academy, I, Yamashita Tomohisa, the President of the Student Council, would like to welcome all of you to the EDGE Academy. And to the juniors and seniors, welcome back for the new term.
We are all lucky to have a chance to gather here in this prestigious school to welcome the new students and also to guide them through out their school year just like our senior did to us before and the previous senior to them.
To the old students, I’m sure you have heard this over and over again as our seniors had also mentioning about this every time we had the first assembly every term, but alas the new students have not hear it yet so, we need to tell them.
Dear freshman, it may sound like a rule to follow but it’s actually our motto, a tradition that have been passes down for generation and also the reason why the Academy still standing tall, still stands at the top and the reason why this academy still keeps a good relationship with its alumni.
First and foremost, you all should know that in this academy, we are all equal. It doesn’t matter from where you are, who’s your family, or what your title is because in this academy, we treat the students with equality. And the most important thing for you to keep staying in this academy is to maintain your good works, and also to make sure that your studies is not slack off.
Secondly, if you fail to maintain your academic results, you will be given a warning. But after the third warning and you still hasn’t managed to keep up and your results keep on dropping, you will be expel.
Thirdly, here in this academy, we are like family. We help each other and stay strong together. Your roommates and your classmates are your brothers. So, we will look out for each other.
And fourth, all students must participate in all school activities whether it sports, festivals or just a friendly competition between dorms. This is to ensure that we have a good relationship with each other, no matter if you are freshman, juniors or seniors.
Now, as you all know, this academy has four dorms, The Amethyst, The Emerald, The Sapphire and also The Ruby. All of you have been sorted into these four dorms. And might I remind you, once you have been chosen into certain dorm, you have to stay in that dorm for the three years you studying here. After this ceremony, you can see your names on the board behind there to know which dorms all of you end up with. Before that, let me introduce you to the head of these four dorms. The head of The Amethyst, the one who wear the purple uniform at my right, Takizawa Hideaki-sempai. Beside him is Tsubasa Imai-sempai, the head of The Sapphire. On my left is Yokoyama Yuu-sempai, the head of The Emerald and beside him is Matsumoto Jun-sempai, the head of The Ruby.
If you have any problem or need help with anything, you can find them as they are willing to help you in anyway they could. And all your uniform will be given to you by your head dorm. Once you reach your dorm, go and meet them and they will assign you to your room.
Besides that, the school will be starting the day after tomorrow. You will know which classes you will be in by tomorrow. Your dorm head will be posting the name and classes at the common room and from then, you can log in to the EDGE Academy website to look for your timetable.
I think that’s it for now. I know all of you might still be tired from your journey. So, I’m going to end the opening ceremony of the EDGE Academy. You may precede to your assign dorms. If you have any problem, please don’t hesitate to ask for our help.”
With that, the opening ceremony is closed. All of the new students hurriedly went to the back of the gymnasium to see which dorms they end up with while the Juniors and the Seniors just went to their dorms respectively.

Kamenashi Kazuya is wandering around on the 2nd floor of The Sapphire, looking for his room. In his hand is a piece of paper with his room number. The dorm is not really big but since it’s the first time for him to be in the dorms, it seems like the hall is endless. After a few minutes, finally he found his room. Taking a deep breath, he opens the door. Apparently, his roommate is already in there and when he turns around, Kazuya gasps recognizing him.

Tanaka Koki curses for the tenth time. Why shouldn’t he when he’s been wondering at the same hall for 15 minutes, searching for his room. Not only his room is on the 3rd floor, which happen to be the top of the dorm where he has to climb the stairs but his room also happen to be one of the middle room. That is actually not a problem, but the problem is that he doesn’t know if the first room starts from the east or the west since he couldn’t find the number of the room. That is why he’s been walking back and forth at the hallway of the 3rd floor.
“”Hey, you’re a new student, aren’t you? Do you need any help?” Suddenly he hears a voice behind him. Sighing in relief, he turns around only to see Nakamaru Yuuichi standing behind him.
“Yes please, I’ve been searching for my room for quite a while. I just can’t seem to find it, and there’s no number at the door.” Koki says, letting his frustration out. Yuuichi just chuckled lightly.
“That’s maybe because you search at the wrong place. You need to look up to see the room’s number.” Yuuichi says as he points at the number on the top of the door. Koki feels so stupid because he obviously didn’t think about looking at the top of the door. Yuuichi just smile at Koki’s expression.
“Don’t worry; most new students make the same mistake. Come; let me see your room number. Maybe I can help you find it.” Koki feels relieves when Yuuichi says that. He then shows Yuuichi his piece of paper that shows his room number.
“Room S306. Hey, that’s my room. That’s mean you’re my new roommate. My name is Nakamaru Yuuichi but you can call me Yuuichi. Come; let me show you to our room. What is your name, by the way?” Yuuichi says excitedly while leading Koki to their room.
“My name is Tanaka Koki but you can call me Koki. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu.” Yuuichi opens the door of their room and ushers Koki in. “Eh, Nakamaru?? Are you related to…..”
