Yesterday was Evan's birthdaaaay! My little boy who's not so little anymore turned 6 years old! We didn't do anything super fancy, but he enjoyed it. We had family over for cake, ice cream, and snacks. Really low-key, but fun, nonetheless.
After many mind changes, Evan finally decided on a Toad cake. (He really likes Mario characters in case you haven't noticed.) I worked on it Saturday, and this is how it turned out.
Blue Toad!
I was honestly planning on going with the traditional Red Toad, but the red color I made didn't look right, so we went with Blue Toad. At first, Evan was like, "You're supposed to make him red!" But then I explained that it was Blue Toad, and he was totally okay with it. I think this is probably the best looking cake I've ever made. I'm a big fan of printing off a coloring book page off the internet, and tracing it onto the cake, then just filling it in. I learned that trick from my mom. (Except she didn't have internet.) And there were no hissy fits this time while I was making it (by me, I mean.) I think it went better b/c I bought icing instead of making it this time. Then, I just colored it whatever color I wanted. Oh, and those are mini chocolate chips on his shoes and eyes and mouth. :)
Here's Evan with his cake:
That kid is full of cheese.
Evan got some pretty cool presents for his birthday. He got a missionary book from Granna and Papa Pettus, a Transformer backpack from his cousins (and a drawing from Londyn), and from Mommy, Daddy, and Lauren...
A NEW BIKE!
Yaaay! I'm not sure who was more excited, us or him. :) He knows how to pedal, now he just has to work on balancing.
Here's some random pictures from the night.
Evan and Gavin wore the exact same outfit! How embarassing... :)
He packed it before bed last night b/c he was SO excited to use his new backpack.
An I Spy book about missionaries. Pretty cool!
He ate Toad's face.
Each of us colored a
Mario picture I printed off the internet for decorations.

I was so proud of me for actually getting Andrew to color one, too. hehe
So my big boy is 6 now. It blows my mind. In just two years, he will be old enough to be baptized. Crazy. Life moves so fast...
