The schools around here have a science fair that they require ALL students to make a project for--even the kindergartners. While this all sounds fun and educational, I've been rather stressed out the last few days getting all the materials needed and helping Evan with his project b/c, honestly... he's five... how much can he really do on his own, ya know?
Anyway, it's due Monday, and being the fantastic parent that I am, I waited until this weekend to look for a tri-fold board to display his project on. That was dumb. I went to about 6 or 7 different stores until I found one, and it was way smaller than I think it was supposed to be, but oh well. I also spent more money on this project than I thought I would. So I was pretty irritated by the time we started.
Evan seemed to enjoy it. Sort of. He was very distracted... ya know, b/c he's five. We took two hot wheels that were the same and raced them down a ramp, and then we made one heavier to see which one would go faster. I had to get Andrew to come help b/c Evan wouldn't pay attention when I dropped the cars down the ramp, nor was he able to let go of the cars at the same time if I had him race the cars. *sigh*
I really tried to get him to do as much as possible b/c I don't want to be one of THOSE parents that does everything for their kids, but it was really hard when they set guidelines that aren't even remotely achievable for his skill level on the displays.
Yes, I am complaining and complaining and complaining...
Here he is with his finished project which he thinks looks awesome, and while we were taping stuff on today said, "This is fun!" And I guess that's all that really matters in the end. Or something sappy like that. :)
