So. I went to girls' camp last week.
And that's all I have to say about that. I'd rather move on to happier things like...
THIS!
Let's backtrack to when I went to the George Washington Birthday Celebration Parade with Andrew, Anna, and all of our kids. On the little trek from our parking space to the parade we passed by a building where they were making furniture. They were actually using saws and sanders and stuff. Now, Andrew and I have been looking for a new table for awhile. We've been wanting something bigger to accommodate guests and the future expansion of our family. We've looked in lots of different furniture stores, but with no success. There are very few large tables, and the ones we saw were too... fancy... or too expensive.
Then, we went to this place on Saturday. Everything in that little building--El Rincon Rustico--is handmade. We were expecting them to tell us that it would cost a small fortune to buy a table and chairs. We were told that for a table AND 8 chairs, it would cost $980. That's it. Any other place was waaaaaaaay more expensive. And this is custom-made, hand-crafted, choose whatever we want AWESOMENESS!!
That picture above? Picture it larger and a slightly different stain... and that's what we're getting. Awesome, huh? I'm really excited. He said it would take a month at the most. yaaaaaay new table!!
Oh, and they also had this there:
I'm really amazed at the talent and creativity used to make this table, but I would never, ever want this in my home. The table is even covered in cow hide. I never did sit in it, so I don't know how comfortable it was. Sorry.
In other awesome sauce news (but not really), I found a cool website--
Cubecraft.com--where you can print off FREE cut-outs to make cute little box characters. They have just about every character you can think of. I printed off one of Sonic the Hedgehog and put it together today.
Our printer ink is low...
Evan didn't really like that he was purple and pink, but he thought it was cool nonetheless. It took a long time, and I ended up using tape to keep it together. I'm not sure how many more of these I will do, but I really liked the end result... I'm sure there are easier ones to do, too. At any rate, check it out! They're cute and fun!
Some funny things my kids have said recently:
I was told that Evan told his cousin Londyn that she sucked. Grandma asked him if he was using nice words or ugly words. He told her, "Well, I'm using ugly words, but I'm saying them with love!" haha
I told Lauren she was a smarty pants. She immediately told me that she did not have smarty pants, she had PINK PANTS! haha It reminded me of a story my mom would tell about me... I came running into the kitchen, and she said, "Johanney has on pink panties." I stopped in my tracks, looked down my pants, and said, "How did you know?!" Good times...
Lauren threw up in her bed this morning. I heard her crying in her room, so I went to go check. I thought she had peed the bed. I asked her if she needed to go potty, and she said, "I spilled food out of my mouth into the bed." Seeing as how it was really early in the morning, it didn't register in my brain what she meant until I leaned down and smelled her puke breath. I felt bad for the girl, but I thought her description was pretty funny. haha
For the record, she's fine now. So it's okay to laugh. :)
Well, I better go to bed. I've been exhausted today. I've been forgetting to take my iron pills b/c girls' camp threw me off schedule, and I think it's catching up to me. I slept in with Lauren until 10. Then I took a nap this afternoon. That's not like me at all.
Right, well, good night!
