I'm long overdue for a post about Lauren's birthday. Today I actually uploaded pictures to the computer, so here ya are! Lauren's birthday EXTRAVAGANZA! Or something.
I asked Lauren what she wanted on her cake this year, and she wanted a princess. I wasn't surprised. The kid loves princesses right now. The problem that I foresaw was that my meager cake decorating skills wouldn't be able to put a princess on a cake. So I had a little talk with Lauren, and we decided that we could have a Princess and the Frog party. The cake would be the frog, and she would be the princess. I thought it turned out pretty darn cute.

Here's the cake I made. I printed off a picture of Prince Naveen and traced it on there with a toothpick. My big plan was to have different colored icing and do spots and eyes with the icing... what happened was I found this video on Pinterest that was
supposed to make using icing bags easier. Basically, what you're supposed to do is get some saran wrap, put the icing in the middle, fold it up, and then hold the ends and spin it until it looks like a candy wrapper, then stick the pointy end into the icing bag. Oh, just watch the video... anyway, I stuck the icing in there, and I folded the saran wrap over, then I picked it up and started spinning it around. Next thing I know, the plastic gets a hole in it, and I'm spinning green icing all over myself and my kitchen. It was awesome. I may have thrown a stomping fit. It wasn't the first dumb thing I had done that day. That day was filled with dumb things.
So I ended up with just enough green icing to do the frog, and then I improvised the rest with marshmallows and mini chocolate chips.
I mean, I did all of that on purpose to begin with.... *shifty eyes*
So here's the Princess with her frog.

I'm not sure what was up with her poses that day, but they were cracking me up. Observe.

She's such a goober. Also, she made sure I knew that her dress was not Princess and the Frog, but Tinkerbell. We already had that dress, and it was green... sooo... sorry. :)
We just had family over, and they all came dressed up, too.

The Princesses. I love that Rapunzel had a frying pan. :)
We even had a Prince!

And a frog!

I'll spare you all the present pictures, but she got some pretty cool stuff. Lots of princess stuff and some baby gear and even her very own BIKE!
It's hard to believe that my little Lauren is three years old now. That's how old Evan was
when we moved here! Time is going by too fast. It seems like it wasn't that long ago that
she was in the hospital, and I was worrying whether she was going to make it or not. And now she's my big three year old snuggle bug. I love my Laurie Loo!
My favorite Lauren quote:
"I hate being awesome!"
