Cute Kid Stories for your Reading Pleasure

Sometimes I want to post on LJ, but I'm not really sure what to write about. We did go to San Antonio this weekend, but I want to post the details in my Laredo blog b/c it's been neglected. Mostly b/c I haven't done anything interesting lately, so I've had nothing to write about.

I know. I'll write some cute things about the kids. People love cute kid stories, right? Right.

--Lauren and Evan are on a Knock Knock joke kick lately. It's kinda cute and kinda annoying. They think that anything that ends in poop or underpants is hilarious. Lauren's jokes are pretty much in this format: "Knock Knock. Who's there? *insert object here* Object who? Underpants!" It's cute. I've been trying to teach Evan some real knock knock jokes and not just ones that end with object+underpants. He's learned the "boo who?" one, and he thinks it's pretty awesome.

--Lauren really has a little imagination. She likes to pretend to be other things. The other day, I got her on video pretending to be a robot. she would walk around and move her arms up and down and say, "I am a wobot. I am a wobot." I loved it. She also loves being a puppy. And she wants to be called Dora a lot.

--Evan has been taking the chairs out of our dining area and putting them in a circle and putting a blanket on top of them to make a tent. He also likes to put blankets on top of the couch and says it's a "ghost couch." He sat under his tent for a long time playing games on Andrew's iPod.

--We bought a children's story book of the New Testament. We've been reading the kids stories about Jesus. Lauren doesn't really pay much attention, but Evan is eating it up. He loves hearing those stories. He told me tonight that he wished he could see Jesus and that he missed him. I told him he would come again, and we talked about what that would be like. It was really sweet. Since Lauren wasn't paying attention to the story, we worked on saying "Jesus loves me" and "I love Jesus." They also told me they loved Mommy. :)

--Since Evan is 4, and I'm sick of wiping his poop, I've decided it's time he learned how to wipe himself clean. It's been a difficult process, but I've finally figured out a solution... bribery. It's amazing. I tell Evan that if he wipes himself completely clean, (I check.) he'll get a cookie. It's worked WONDERS! He gladly wipes now. And I never realized there was so much to teach about wiping. He was making such a mess. The things you take for granted... wiping is an acquired skill, people. Treasure it.

--Now that I'm teaching Evan to wipe, I'm dreading potty training Lauren. It'll start all over again. Ugh...

Okay, well, Andrew's home, and I need to go, so Adios, muchachos!
