I found this recipe for Orange Butter the other day. Behold!
Orange Butter
-to spread generously on one batch of pancakes-
Ingredients
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
Zest of 1/2 orange
1 tablespoon orange juice (optional)
Procedure
Beat the butter with the brown sugar until it's soft and creamy. Beat in the orange zest and orange juice until light. Serve with warm pancakes.
Oh my... that sounds so delicious. I want to try it so very badly. How would you go about zesting an orange without a zester? hmmm...
I'm making roast, potatoes, and carrots in the Crock Pot today. It's smelling mighty fine. The problem with cooking in the Crock Pot is that I feel like that exceeds my productivity quota for the day, and I don't want to do anything else because I've already cooked an awesome meal. My house is a complete wreck, though, and one of my friends is supposed to come by tonight. Do I really want her to know just how disgusting I really am? Nah... I better clean.
Before I do that, though, (b/c we all know I really don't want to) Lauren is semi-walking now! She's so cute when she does it, too, b/c she's so proud of herself. She's only done it a few times and still prefers crawling, but I figure it's only a matter of time now before she's running all over the place.
Today I made a bedtime chart for Evan. I was telling my sister-in-law Anna that I never remember to brush Evan's teeth until we're somewhere we can't do it. And it's pretty gross. So she said that when she was growing up, her mom made them bedtime charts. It had a list of things they were supposed to do every night. She told me this a few weeks ago, and I finally got around to making one. Check it out!
I took the pictures from the nick jr website then just made a table on word. I told him that we would put a sticker on the pictures when he did those things and made sure he knew what all the pictures meant. When the chart is full of stickers, he gets a prize. This time he chose ice cream. So in a few days, we'll be going to get ice cream! He's really excited about it. Every once in awhile, he mentions getting ice cream and sometimes I catch him looking at the chart in his room. I let him pick where we put it. It's so cute that he's excited. :) And it makes me feel like I'm doing something right for a change. So thanks, Anna!
Well, I really should clean now. Adios!
