Keeping my house presentable is getting more and more difficult. Evan got a set of lincoln logs for christmas, and he likes to dump out the ENTIRE tub to play. And Lauren is figuring out that she can take stuff off of shelves, and she loves it. I feel like all I do all day is pick up the same stuff over and over. I get Evan to help me pick up the logs, but that's a chore in itself... making him do something. he does it, but it takes a lot of reminding that this is what he's supposed to be doing and not something else.
Such is the life for a mom!
Andrew's little brother Caleb got back from his mission in Korea last night. They're coming into town today so my dad can release him as a missionary. (does anybody remember what being "released" is in The Giver? That gives a whole new meaning to that sentence. haha I love that book.) They're supposed to stop by to see the kids and possibly take Evan back with them IF he's still feeling better. The pukes came to our house last night. Evan puked about 4 times and kept pooping his pants. Thank goodness for pull-ups! he seems to be doing great today! I still haven't gotten him to eat much, but at least he's not puking or pooping liquid. So far none of the rest of us have gotten sick. *crosses fingers*
Our Christmas was fantabulous. For completely hormonal reasons, Christmas Eve wasn't that fun for me. I was tired and cranky. Christmas day was great, though. Lauren actually slept through the night for the first time in a week that night, so I felt MUCH better. I loved watching the kids open their presents, and it was fun to go to my dad's and all pile on his bed for the Christmas Story, and then watch the kids open more presents.
Evan was too cute. He came in and looked at the presents under the tree and said, "Where my train?" He slumped his shoulders in a Charlie Brown-esque fashion, too. He had told us the day before that Santa was bringing him a train. LUCKILY, there was a train set in the Lincoln Logs set we got him. When we gave him his stocking, he pulled out a box of Animal Crackers and goes, "It's a BOX!" We were cracking up.
Lauren was so excited about everything. She had no idea what was going on, but there was so much to look at. We handed her her stocking and she just hugged it and smiled at us. Everything I pulled out of it was AMAZING to her. I loved watching her. It was her very first Christmas!
I got the kids new Sunday clothes, and they look so stinkin' cute! I got Evan a suit, and Andrew was laughing at me when I put it on him. He said I looked so giddy and excited. I was! He looked so handsome and grown-up. And, of course, Lauren looked cute in hers. She looks cute in everything.
So that was pretty much our Christmas. Christmas is much more fun when you have kids that understand what's going on. Evan loves Christmas. He's still wanting to sing Christmas songs. I'm glad that I love Christmas again. I didn't like it for a long time after my mom died. The kids make it better.
Welp, I better go. Evan keeps wanting me to look at what he's doing on Mario Paint. Have a happy new year, everyone!
