She was sitting on the counter in the kitchen, wearing jeans and a plaid shirt. Her long black hair was half-up, the rest falling down her back. Hannah was telling her friends about the last time her husband told her a terrible joke.
"So he comes home from a night out with the lads and is falling down drunk. But he keeps trying to tell me this joke, right? He goes 'Hannah, you like riddles. I have a joke for you.' and so he starts to tell it. There are these three Ravenclaws, out of school and talking about their scholarly influences in school. One of them leaned back and stated that he'd been fascinated with Libatius Borage's potions work, the next one scoffed at potions and said that she'd studied more than just wizarding subjects in school, she'd even explored muggle topics and studied Plato. The third wizard, who had not done much studying in school and had spent most of it thinking about sex was quiet until the end. He'd done well in school, but he leaned in and nodded to the others. 'Well, I was a very committed Dickensian scholar in school.'"
She laughs again at the ridiculous joke her husband had told. Her friends laughed as well. "Dickensian! What a pun." Derek walked into the room as she was talking about it. "Hannah!" he said with a frown as he walked to the fridge to get a drink. "How many times do I have to tell you, it was you who came home after your stagette and told me that joke." Hannah shook her head and disagreed with him. "No, it was!" he was laughing now, but still insisting. "You came home and kept telling me 'Dickensian, Derek! Dickensian!'"
No one believed him.
