Hannah was at work, checking her list of patients for that afternoon. A few hexes, some potioned people... and an Auror, but not Derek. Still, maybe she should check someone else's list. Spotting Charles, or Charlie as she called him, Hannah headed over and grabbed his patient list. "Let me see this, Charlie" she said as she studied his list

"Hannah." When she was the one to walk in, Derek brightened. And then there was some other bloke he may or may not have seen around before. Derek focused on Hannah. Which, maybe he shouldn't have. They were at her work and he didn't want to complicate things for her here by making their connection obvious if she didn't want it to be but bugger it. It was good to have her here.
"It's not that bad," he assured. "Someone threw a curse and twisted my leg around. We mostly sorted it, it's just a bit numb. They wanted it checked out. How's your day going?"

Hannah glanced at his leg and started to examine it before Charles had a chance to start. He voiced his disapproval and informed her that if she wanted to be a more productive Healer then perhaps she should spend more time looking after her own patients.
"Why don't you worry about your own productivity, Charlie." Hannah snapped at him and then informed him that she was almost on her lunch break so she was just checking in on Derek.
"Fine," she said as she backed off and let him examine Derek. Charles asked him all sorts of questions, as he poked and prodded at him. Hannah watched him closely, disapproving of the way he looked Derek over. Besides, Charles was somewhat rude or brisk.

Not to say she hadn't thought the exact same thing when other Aurors had shown up to be treated by her with a quick fix in place. Never mind that right now. Hannah watched as Charlie continued to work.
She grinned at Derek. "The favourite part of his job is lecturing patients, I think. He's been here two years longer than I have and he acts like he's my boss. It's ridiculous," Hannah said, knowing full well that Charlie could hear her.
Charlie made a comment about how Hannah still had a lot to learn, which made Hannah laugh. She ignored him now, focusing her attention on Derek. "So this wasn't your fault? You're still on the track to be the greatest Auror student along with Nora?"

Derek laughed when she asked about being in the race for the greatest. "Absolutely. This counts as experience," he insisted. Well, it sort of did. "If I'd skated through training without anything happening to me they'd think I wasn't working hard enough. But no, this one wasn't my fault. One of the newer recruits wasn't paying attention and started throwing spells around."

With a glance at the time, Hannah realized that she had to meet her mum for lunch. "Hey Derek, did you want to join me and my mum for lunch? We don't have to tell her anything yet, it can just be a social lunch. I'm sure she's dying to hear how Auror training is going." Hannah leaned over and kissed Derek on the forehead before dragging him up to go. Really, he didn't have a choice.

"I'll go with whatever you're thinking. She's your mum. I'm not sure if she'll like me more or less if she knows we're together just yet."

She smiled at Abigail, who returned her smile with one of her own. "Hey mum, look who I found, wandering the halls looking to be treated for an injury." Hannah nodded towards Derek before asking if he could accompany them to lunch.
"Of course," Abigail said as she gave Derek a polite smile. "I'll change the reservation."
On their way over, Abigail looked over at Derek. "So how did you injure yourself this time, Derek?"

He smiled at Abigail when Hannah introduced him. "Abigail." Otherwise, Derek kept his mouth shut until she addressed him directly. "Today? Oh, someone wasn't paying attention. Thew a stray curse and it ended up hitting me." Suddenly Derek wished he had a better story. He wasn't sure what that would be, but accidentally taking a hit didn't seem to speak highly for him.
