"and all we know for sure amidst this fading light: we'll not go home again"

oh gourds! as i sat painting the garishly pink buttons on my hallowe'en costume's shirt a much more preferable shade of ivory, i was engaged in a conversation with cliomuse. having a slight headache, a paintbrush in my mouth and still being mildly clock-confused with the recent time change, i consented to attempt nanowrimo with her. that means in one day i will be committing to a solid month of writing some 50,000 words. something i desperately need to do. a desperation that is finally making me resort to nanowrimo. no time is going to be a good time, so why not just start now with a bunch of other struggling artists?

in other news! the crane wife arrived at my door in the moonlight... well, at least that's when i finally got to check the mail. a nice thick package containing the cd and the fall issue of filter magazine (featuring a cover story on... i'll let you take one guess). so, yeah. it's different than the decemberists' last album (then again, they're ever-evolving), there's less accordion than i would have liked but, all in all, it's a solid album that gets my full approval. purchase it now! the album art is gorgeous and an illegal download of it just messes up the great segues between songs 1 and 2 and 9 and 10. solid performance. can't wait for the concert!

that is all. therefore, tremble and depart!
