the hazy days of summer have seriously set in and i can't help but think of the smog that we are wallowing in for lack of a decent downpour.
last thursday,
ladybrock was finally back in town and we got to hang out for the evening and she got to meet a---. she was auditioning to be a teacher for the mcat course (correct me if i'm misrepresenting you). since then she has gotten the job and will be moving in with us for four months starting in september. (yay!!)
on friday i went to
itatakimasu's regularly scheduled gig at the amici and cracked open the sketchbook. my attempts to capture ms. pitre's essence, however, were all for naught. i'm not a good enough artist to excel at such things yet. having no prior connection with a person makes it a lot easier to just draw them. one is more forgiving of the drawing's shortcomings. in any event, it was a lovely way to spend an evening.
other stuff:
tasma looking like a teddy bear
itatakimasu invited a--- and me to dinner at her place on wednesday. she made us tasty pasta covered in a generous helping of romano and asiago cheese sauce with (free!) garlic sausage (thanks to the antics/forgetfulness of my co-workers). arteries were of little concern to us.
and then yesterday i discovered my first bona fide grey hair. a sproinky, wiry thing sticking out of the left side of my head. don't get me wrong, i love grey hair and one day aspire to have a head full of it -- but not at the age of 23! anyways, i wanted to make sure it was truly grey so i pulled it out and scrutinized it with an impenetrable scrute.
yup, no doubt about it!
and this is just fun. and i received several non-bill-like things in the mail this past week:
--
fables 9: sons of empire (read it and it was good because it brings us to #10...)
--
fables 10: the good prince (amazing! it left me feeling very satisfied :)
--
good-bye, chunky rice (still to read)
-- perfume! it cost me an arm and a leg, but it will help my remaining limbs smell perfectly divine ;)
