It took 65 minutes to fly from Cincinnati to Buffalo. It took 2 hours to drive from Buffalo to Niagara Falls.
Canadian Border Services decided have a
"blue flu" on Sunday night to protest the federal goverment's lack of support, so only three booths were open. The usual flow rate is 1000 cars/hour - it dropped to around 200. This whole mess caused NY State police to shutdown I190 North at the Peace Bridge exit.
Once I got close to the exit (which was also closed), I finally realized there was some kind of serious problem. When I saw the bridge, I called the bridge status number and discovered that the Peace Bridge had a 90+ minute wait. So despite not knowing where I would end up, I followed the detour signs and I just kept going north to the Rainbow Bridge. Despite some issues finding the route, I crossed the border there in about 1 minute. Thank god for cell phones and a brother who knows the area well.
