A friend who responded in time before the Mineral and Jewlery Fair told me her favorite gem was "blue tiger's eye." So I texted a Polish friend while waiting outdoors for the bus in very strong winds, asking what "tiger's eye" is in Polish. He responded with "oko tygrysa." For whatever stupid reason, I forgot to ask about "blue."
Anyway, almost all the vendors had brown tiger's eye. I then pointed to something blue, and then maligned the pronunciation of "oko tygrysa." Finally I got to one vendor and showed her the text message rather than try to pronounce the word in Polish. Then I pantomimed the blue, after she showed me only the original (brown) tiger's eye.
Then she showed me the following bracelet and flapped her arms and I was like "okay, bird..." I didn't think there was a gem named "bird" though I don't know much about gems.
I wandered around and bought other stuff because her price was a little high. I finally went back and got the bracelet since it was the only blue one I found, (I didn't ask every vendor, of course. The place was huge.) Another worry was that since the bracelet was a fixed length one, I couldn't be sure it'd fit my friend. She makes jewelry, though, so I told her I wouldn't mind if she dismantled the bracelet and made something from the gems.
Back at the house I Googled it up and discovered the vendor was talking about
hawk's eye.
Pictures!
And since her birthday was earlier this month and she likes Pegasus, I got her a Pegasus card!
