The thing about cities, these days, is that they tend to have zombies. The thing about zombies is that Karla does much, much better avoiding them than trying to fight them ( Read more... )

A slow blink, but sharp eyes, Claire licks one canine and tilts her head, watching. They'd been out hunting, her and two that she would expect to protect her.

Leaving the other two vamps, she approaches, heels loud on concrete.

"Hey there," voice sugar candy and dark growls.

Karla tenses a little at the sound of the approaching heels, and turns that way.

"Evening."

Slight hint of a Southern drawl in her voice, guarded tone and expression.

Claire licks her lips, watches, curious.

"You must be new."

She smells human, and recently fed, that's more a curiosity to Claire than attractive. Southern. This could be fun.

"Yep."

High heels, expensive-looking clothing... "I'm guessing you're not."

Slow smile, "No, not really."

In a head tilt, she's sizing up the new person. "A human? Traveling to new cities. Unusual."

Karla shrugs, as well as she can with the weight of the backpack and guitar.

"I travel a lot. Not always to cities."

She's on the small side, but there's wiry muscle in her bare arms, and when she moves, she's light on her feet.

Karla puts more stock in being quick than being strong.

"You not human, then?"

Not a zombie, obviously. "Werewolf or vampire?" is always a fun game. Or not.

Claire watchest, curious, sees the shift and wonders why the girl would carry around anything so heavy. Must leave her vulnerable. On the other hand, it's not Claire's problem.

"Looking for other humans? I hear a lot of them are wiped out," Claire tilts her head. "No. Not human."

"Looking for anyone who's not gonna look at me as dinner, really." There's a quick smile, a little wry, a little nervous. "Humans usually seem the safest bet."

"One thing they are good for. Might stab you in the back, but at least don't want to consume your flesh," Claire says.

She finds this amusing. It probably shouldn't be so much. "You in town for long?"

"Well, there's always cannibals." She says that more cheerfully than she's said anything else so far.

Karla has an odd sense of humor, sometimes.

"As for how long I'm in town--not sure yet. Depends on what I find."

"You heard of any cannibals? I have pretty good resources and I haven't," she says.

A smirk and Claire comes closer, predatory. Weird sense of humor, she gets that.

"Well, if you stick around, you might think about... safety."

"Not outside of horror movies," Karla admits, dryly. "But then, there's a lot of stuff around these days I didn't use to hear about outside of horror movies."

As Claire moves forward, Karla takes an instinctive step back.

"That's crossed my mind."

Licking her lips, Claire watches the step. There are few things she likes more than hunting.

She shakes it off.

"There's a shelter a while south from here. You can't miss it, it's one of the zombie free zones."

The information might be free.

Karla steels herself to hold still.

When you're facing a predator, try not to act like prey.

"Yeah? Maybe I'll head there, then. Thanks for the info."

It might be free. What Karla's wondering is if she gets to find out up-front whether it is or not.

Good girl, Claire leans in, sniffing. Blood, human blood, fresh blood. Licking her lips, she holds in a purr.

"You also might think about donating some blood." Smiles. "People who do tend to walk safer at night."

Karla stays where she is, eyebrows going up a bit.

"Donating." Karla generally likes her blood where it is, but there are worse ways of losing it than that. "That the way it works around here?"
