Like brother, like sister

The kids in my family (meaning my brother and I) share a common affliction. This affliction causes us to completely remove ourselves from reality and stay up into the wee hours of the night..... reading. This elevates us to a new level of nerdiness, especially when I walk into work looking so tired (Sarah, have you been drinking all night? No, I was finishing the last hundred pages of my book at 1 am.....). What is it about a story that makes us so impatient that we cannot wait for the morning light? Though I never have tried my brother's trick (sticking a blanket under the crack in his door so that the parents would think he was asleep, when in actuality his lights had been on for hours). No, now I have my own apartment, but perhaps the neighbors are wondering why they can still see the glow of my lights, the same book in my hands, and a far-off look on my face.

Until I Find You by John Irving was a damn good book.
