V-O-L-L-E-Y....

So I've decided to give up drinking for a little while. Seems like it's been ruling me lately.

I've also been playing volleyball with the junior high school team (who could easily beat our JV team in high school, and could probably compete with our high school varsity team). Today after practice, the vice principal (who is also the volleyball coach) asked me to give them some comments.... but all I could think of was to praise them. I mean, these girls kick ass! I suppose that I will keep playing with them. Even during my own season, I was never in this good of shape. I can jump now. I can hit the ball (kinda). I can block now! Sometimes I wish I'd stuck with volleyball through all of high school, but then sometimes I am glad I quit. All I know is that practicing is fun now. I really want to play. I miss the excitement of the game, which I was really missing during basketball. Basketball was stressful. I just can't seem to get enough of volleyball. And what's more, I want to improve. I want to be able to hit the ball like Saori and Chika, or pass the ball like Riko. Seriously, this girl Saori is a better hitter than any of the NHS players ever were. I understand that for three years, these girls have only played volleyball. They have never touched another sport. They live the game.

Man, it was just so fun today. I left school at 6 pm. I can feel the end coming. In August I'll be at the high school. Until then, I want to maximize my time with the awesome ninth grade girls. Somehow, during games, I speak no Japanese, they try to speak more English than in class.... and it all works out.
