Bingo prompts it satisfies: second book in a series, book with a female protagonist, book with a protagonist of color; it narrowly misses being a book narrated by a child because Tip is 13. I guess it's also a story where the main male and female characters don't fall in love, except Boovish gender is non-binary, so I don't think that counts.
