Yeah, I never hated Morgan either. He was a bit like Stannis, but without the scary crazy influence over him. And I thought he got a good send-off in this book.

I haven't read the Michael short story either (didn't even know about it until people on the DF comm mentioned it in conjunction with this book). But, yeah, would've liked to see more about him.

And some Marcone. And Ramirez. And Kincaid (yes, I know he had nothing to do with anything happening in this book, I just like him -- why can't I have gratuitous!Kincaid? :P)

Yeah, the turncoat -- lots of people mentioned/complained that he was too obvious, but on the other hand, I'm not sure it could've been presented as more of a surprise unless some more foreshadowing to that effect had been in earlier books (and I don't think there was, unless I totally issed it), because till now the focus was on just Morgan, Injun Joe, Mai, and the Merlin, so the foundation for it being someone not in those four had to be laid in this book. Oh well, it didn't really bother me (but I thought he was working in conjunction with someone more senior, so maybe it was less obvious to me than to others, and thus less bothersome.)
