I got a hamster recently, a black bear, and she doesn't seem to react to noise..at all. I'm somewhat concerned and think that she may be deaf. She was sleeping out in the open (in her cage), and I was whistling loudly by her cage, and she did not react. I've googled "deaf, hamster" and nothing really came up. I'm just wondering if I'm paranoid.
I've tried many pseudo-scientific noise tests, but consistently, she does not react. She is really calm by nature, and it may be because she can't hear (I really don't know. =/)
I sorta wonder if she's just snubbing me...but I'm more concerned for her health than anything.
Anyone heard of or have encountered a deaf hamster?
