I guess my little Taterbutt was worse off than I realized, I came home from class today and discovered she'd passed away sometime last night/early this morning. It came as a bit of a shock to me because I cleaned her cage out Monday and had begun to give her some liquid hamster vitamins I'd bought and she really seemed to be improving. She'd calmed enough to let me wipe her eye off with a damp paper towel so she could open it again, took a treat or two from me and enjoyed the spinach and lettuce I fed her, ran around a bit in her ball while I was cleaning her cage. I'd decided that if she hadn't improved more by the time I got paid we were going to take a trip to the vet. She's buried out beside my bunny in the back yard now, with some of her favorite cheesy chews. :(
So now I have two cages, a hamster ball, a couple of treat containers and some leftover treats, and a mostly full bag of Hazel Hamster food to give away for free if anyone in the Concord/Charlotte, North Carolina area has need of them. I've also got a bottle of
Oasis Vita-Drops for hamsters, which I only used a little bit of and I may ask for something like $4 for, half of what I paid.
One cage is a homemade bin cage (which I'll wash out well and let sit in some bleach if anyone wants it to ensure no accidental infection of their hamsters), it's pretty big:
And the other cage is smaller, a Crittertrail with a few tubes included and a spiral climbing/slide thing.
I'll provide more pictures of both if requested. Both come with water bottles, but I only have one wheel so whichever cage is taken first gets the wheel. The hamster ball is purple and a little scuffed and dented, and the treats are about 1/3 of a bag of strawberry yogurt drops and an uneaten seed log, as well as some salt licks with a holder for cages with bars.
