I have a year and a half old female Syrian who has been relatively unremarkable until last night: has never bitten, very calm and content, has potty trained herself into one corner, eats and drinks regularly; in other words is exceptionally healthy. She's still as active and vibrant as she was when I first got her but she has been chewing lately. A lot. Which is bad because she lives in a 20 gallon bin cage (that I made when she had only been with me for maybe a month). She stands on top of her house:

And gnaws at the lid because it has holes in it for ventilation. I moved her into the bathroom two days ago because she was so noisy, knowing full well it was stupid to just ignore the problem (I have class all day Mondays though that's hardly an excuse). This morning I go into the bathroom and see her just chillin' on the counter behind the sink like she belongs there. It took me a full minute to realize that I hadn't left her out and that she had, in fact, chewed out of her cage.

I know that this means that she's unhappy about something, I just don't know WHAT. I'm going to buy her a bigger cage and a few more toys and change out the bedding (though I do that regularly). I've been spending as much time as I can with her because she first started nudging the lid whenever I'd put her back.
Do you have any ideas/tips/recommendations? I care about her a lot, obviously, and want her to be happy.
