dwarf freaking out?

Hi all, My two hamsters are doing great :) They're practically tripled in size since I first posted them here, and they're both really active.
I'm a bit concerned for one of them, though.
we have an albino one and a normal brown/white/black one. I don't know their genders, we haven't really checked because they're separated anyways and they squirm way too much for me to flip them over.
the brown one is named bruiser, and he's (we just call it a he) way smaller than the other. He still eats a lot and is very very active, so I haven't been very concerned about that. What I am concerned about, is that we've been taking them out every day, and every few days, he either:
completely zones out
completely freaks out
The latter is much more worrying. What he'll do is he'll start furiously scratching uncontrollably and non-stop until we put him back into his bin. He'll then run to one corner and bite/scratch/groom himself and roll around in said corner for a minute or so until snapping out of it and carrying on as if nothing happened.
He's much more skittish than the other, too. Darts around his bin, while Dracula, his sibling will stand on her hind legs looking up at us for treats. Bruiser never leaves cover if there's a light on in the room, and darts around nervously when you approach him in his bin, though he does accept treats, and eventually climbs into a tube or container offered to him for handling.
any ideas? I don't know how worried I should be. I don't think he has fleas or anything of the sort, because he isn't constantly itching, he just gets these sudden bursts of crazy scratching.
