Slow morning here.

Yesterday evening was eventful…ok, it really wasn’t.  It was productive though!  Based on iffy weather, I had two options - if it rains or rain becomes extremely eminent, ride a bike.  Because riding in a downpour is actually a lot of fun.  If it doesn’t then yard work.
So yard work.  When we opted to buy a house last year we bought a fixer-upper.  I spent about two weeks at the end of August making in livable.  Kristin helped on the weekends.  And we moved in thereafter.
One thing we never really got to was the yard.  The “grass” was actually mostly prairie vegetation, spotty and ugly.  The area alongside the house looked like it had been attacked by an ADD vegetable gardener and had random plots of soil, but otherwise mostly dirt under a dense mat of thistle.  We attempted to kill the lawn using the greener method of placing trash bags down for several weeks depriving it of light and water.  Which was met with mixed success, more of the “mixed” rather than success.  After emerging from a thesis-related coma in late May, I sprayed it down with concentrated weed and grass killer.  One week later I was never so happy to see a dead lawn.  Yesterday was spent clearing out debris from the grass genocide, killing the survivors, and salvaging bits of downed tree for combination firewood and wood projects Crossing my fingers we have it ready to seed this weekend.  Which is exciting stuff!  We’ll actually have a lawn!
Celebrated my yard musing by going out for ice cream I didn’t earn.  It tasted like caramel and home-owner success.
The remainder of the night was spent trying to get my Kerbal Space Program Apollo-inspired rocket to work.

Work this morning is rather slow compared to the last few days.  Not complaining, just noting.
