Kyuhyun is a solo idol who resents appearing on variety shows until he meets Super Junior's Sungmin.
a/n: sorry again if things seem bizarre... it's fiction, and this is Super Junior... and Korean variety... I think I've covered all my bases there. This is the penultimate chapter, as I don't have any more written than part 5, and I don't currently have more planned for this universe but who knows. This is also the last part that features the filming of the show~

Kyuhyun ended up playing two more songs, singing one with a female guest, and the last one by himself, much to everyone's surprise. Except Sungmin, it seemed, whose face just looked pleased whenever Kyuhyun sang. He wondered if Sungmin wasn't all that impressed with his voice after all. The show took another break from filming and the host was talking with Kyuhyun and Super Junior, but then they began to trickle away, leaving only Sungmin and him with the host, and then the host was called away, and Sungmin smiled up at Kyuhyun.
"You were really amazing," he confessed, hands clasped behind his back, toes turned in slightly, and not looking embarrassed in the least about his openness.
"Thank you," Kyuhyun murmured, grabbing at the back of his neck while bowing slightly, still feeling slightly dissatisfied. Sungmin's smile didn't seem to reach his eyes, and Kyuhyun wondered why this kept occurring. It tended to be when he was on camera or in front of others, but not always, and he'd smiled openly to Kyuhyun before, so there wasn't any consistency. Kyuhyun couldn't figure out if he was socially anxious or not, and he still felt disheartened by how Sungmin hadn't seemed as impressed by his performance as the other guests or the audience. Usually people fell over themselves when they found out he could play and sing songs from memory after one listen. He wanted Sungmin to smile openly at him, to like him and his talents.
Sungmin's head tilted to the side and he leaned forward slightly, looking up at Kyuhyun's bowed head.
"Why so sad, Kyuhyun-ah?" He asked softly, his smile stretching to show his teeth, and Kyuhyun's eyes immediately lit up. Sungmin really was a conundrum, and Kyuhyun desperately wanted to figure him out. He licked his lips, ready to say something, anything, probably something embarrassing, but a set manager called for everyone to return to their seats, and Sungmin smiled apologetically, touching his arm gently, and turned away.
"Let's get back to Super Junior for a minute," the host said when they returned to filming. "You performed part of Miinah for us earlier, and sang Good Person with Kyuhyun-ah," he paused when the crowded clapped, then continued. "But I would like to see another performance. Sungmin-ah," he began, and Sungmin sat up a bit straighter in his seat.
"Yes," he replied sweetly, winking playfully at the audience, which earned him a collective squeal of delight. Kyuhyun hid his smile behind his hand.
"Earlier we saw you try to physically assault Eeteuk-ah and Kyuhyun-ah," he said casually, which made Sungmin burst into laughter and hide his face in shame behind his hands, nodding. "I know you are very skilled in Chinese martial arts," he confessed, and Kyuhyun couldn't help exclaiming loudly again.
"Eh?"
The crowd laughed and the host gestured for Kyuhyun to be quiet.
"Not now, Kyuhyun-ah, you've had your turn."
Kyuhyun muttered an 'aish' under his breath and crossed his arms and legs, turning away.
"Yes, host-ssi," Sungmin replied and bowed slightly.
"Let's have a little demonstration, shall we?" He asked, looking to the audience, and they began to clap and cheer in encouragement. After blushing and trying to school his smile unsuccessfully, Sungmin pushed himself up out of his seat and went to the middle of the stage and took the nunchucks that were handed to him. To Kyuhyun's utter amazement, and with the crowd cheering him on, Sungmin began to wield the nunchucks like a professional, not slipping up once. His body twisted around and around, his arms flailing strategically, the sound of the weapon cutting through the air drowned out by the 'ooh'ing and 'ahh'ing of the audience.
Kyuhyun was dumbstruck yet again. If Sungmin had introduced himself earlier that day as a martial artist, he would have laughed until his stomach hurt, or until Sungmin would have smacked him on the head, whichever came first. Sungmin was so petite and beautiful, it had given Kyuhyun the false impression that he was delicate, or fragile, and yet here he was, putting on the performance of Kyuhyun's life. His strength and agility was making Kyuhyun's head spin, and when Sungmin finally finished, Kyuhyun again had a delayed response, clapping long after everyone else had begun.
"This is why you must be worried, host-ssi," Eeteuk interrupted. "If you knew Sungmin-ssi was capable of this, why did you continue to harass Kyuhyun-ssi earlier?" Sungmin looked over his shoulder at his hyung after bowing to the audience, eyes wide and blank as he stared at Eeteuk, as if he didn't believe what he was hearing, or hoping he wasn't going to say something.
"Eeteuk hyung-" he began, but was cut off.
"Sungmin-ssi would be leading the group of fans who mobbed you after filming, don't you know?" He said cheekily, and then suddenly curled up in his seat, holding his hands out in front of himself as Sungmin glared at him, cheeks tinted red. "Aish! How did I forget Sungmin-ssi still has nunchucks?" He screamed, sounding very much like a girl, Kyuhyun thought, and he watched in amusement as Eeteuk bowed low on the ground before Sungmin, apologizing over and over again.
The crowd went wild when Sungmin turned away from his groveling hyung to face them, hands hanging limp at his sides, the nunchucks dangling ominously from them. But Kyuhyun could see on the monitors, one zoomed in on his face, the other zoomed out to show his entire body, that Sungmin looked anything but threatening. In fact, his lower lip quivered slightly in embarrassment, and his toes were slightly turned in again, looking innocent like earlier in the private room. Sungmin's head bowed in humiliation and he dropped the nunchucks, covering his face with his hands and falling to his knees.
Kyuhyun bit his lip and tried to hide his smile behind his hands, looking to a camera when he noticed it focused on his face, then back to Sungmin curling into a ball on his side in the middle of the stage. The audience was laughing and 'aww'ing, unable to decide whether it was cute or pitiable. Kyuhyun decided it was both and that Sungmin had endured enough embarrassment. He stood and began to descend from his seat again, putting his finger to his lips to gesture to everyone not to spoil the surprise, and crept up to Sungmin's form in the middle of the stage. He almost burst out laughing and spoiled everything himself, but put a hand over his mouth and kept quiet, while kneeling down next to him.
Gently, he placed his hand on the back of Sungmin's head, and the older male peeked out from behind his hands with wide eyes. Kyuhyun started for a moment, noticing that they were shining with tears. He quickly shifted in a way that prevented the cameras from capturing it on film and swallowed thickly. He forced a smile and gave Sungmin a minute to school his features before speaking.
"Sungmin-ssi," he said, and watched as Sungmin bit his lip and the crowd quieted down a bit so he could be heard. "Sungmin-ah,” he amended. “Would you really attack host-ssi with my fans for his cruelty toward me?"
Kyuhyun could hear everyone's laughter and the host's 'aish' but couldn't be bothered to really be paying attention to anything other than Sungmin who remained on the ground, propped up on one elbow with Kyuhyun's hand behind his head. His mesmerizing lips were still glossy under the stage lights and his eyes looked a bit red, his chin quivering just slightly as he managed to respond shortly.
"Yes, Kyuhyun-ah."
Kyuhyun smiled, unable to help himself, and began laughing when Sungmin gave him a genuine smile in return - one that reached his eyes.
"Then please accept me as your dongsaeng, Sungmin hyung," he said, humbly bowing his head and waiting patiently with the crowd for Sungmin's response. The moment felt like an eternity but Sungmin's arms came around him in a hug and pulled him close.
"Please be kinder to me than Eeteuk hyung," Sungmin asked, and the whole of the television studio erupted in laughter, along with Kyuhyun who reached his arms around Sungmin's back. He stood and pulled Sungmin with him, never breaking the hug, and they swayed together playfully for a moment before stepping apart.
Holding hands, they bowed for the applause, before breaking apart and covering their faces in embarrassment and returning to their seats.
When they'd settled back in and the audience's noise was finally dying down, the host suddenly spoke up.
"Sungmin-ah, why are you fanning your face so intensely?"
Laughter erupted again and Sungmin stopped fanning himself long enough to kick his legs out like a frustrated child, whining.
"I would stop there, host-ssi," Eeteuk confessed, his legs pulled up to his chest as he watched his pouting dongsaeng. "Sungmin-ssi doesn't need nunchucks to demonstrate martial arts, just his fists," he said seriously, and Sungmin took that as his cue to look threateningly at the host and crack his knuckles.
The host jumped, startled at the loud rattling of his bones, and began to fan himself.
"Aish, isn't this program over yet?" He muttered as the crowd applauded.
"It must be embarrassing for him, so let's not talk anymore about Sungmin-ssi’s giant crush on Kyuhyun-ssi," Eeteuk added, unable to hide the laughter in his voice as Sungmin's face became exasperated.
"Yah!" Sungmin cried, pushing himself up out of his seat and marching angrily off the stage and into the darkness beyond where the cameras were set up.
A camera zoomed in on Kyuhyun's face as he covered his mouth with both his hands, fighting between the desire to smile and laugh at how adorable Sungmin looked, stomping off in his trendy clothes, red-faced, and worrying his lower lip, wondering if Sungmin had actually walked off set in anger. Kyuhyun had seen his watery eyes earlier and dared to hope that it meant he really did like Kyuhyun; Sungmin had confessed that he wanted to meet him, that he liked his voice, and he'd been playful with him all during the filming of the show, so for him to be upset enough by his hyung’s teasing meant that it had to be true, right? And yet, even if it were, Kyuhyun didn't like the idea of Sungmin getting upset. He would rather sacrifice each and every one of their shared moments today if it meant Sungmin would only be happy and smile that perfect smile, the one that reached his eyes.
Kyuhyun and the other guests looked around in wonder, as if waiting for the host to halt the filming, curious as to what would happen next. Eunhyuk was laughing so hard that he had to be consoled by Donghae, and Eeteuk had his mouth hidden behind both hands, his feet having dropped to the ground as he leaned forward, body shaking with explosive laughter.
"I wonder if our ratings will go up if Super Junior splits up today," the host mused aloud as someone wearing a headset approached him. The crowd laughed a bit awkwardly, their eyes darting around from the stage to the darkness where Sungmin had disappeared.
Kyuhyun felt an undeniable urge to go after him, but felt rooted to the spot. His group mates hadn't gone after him, and they knew him better. Was this typical behavior for Sungmin? Was it a gag? Was it for real? Kyuhyun's head began to spin with questions as the host got caught up talking to Eeteuk and a female guest sitting near him when a few people in the audience began clapping. Kyuhyun looked around curiously as more people began to clap, even some of the camera crew, and a smile began to stretch across his lips as he saw Sungmin strolling casually back on stage with a plastic pink cup in hand, a cute Hello Kitty straw protruding from the top. He held it delicately with both hands, sipping calmly at it, and took his seat again as if nothing had happened.
His group mates crowded around him as everyone continued to laugh and clap, hugging him and apologizing repeatedly.
"Do you feel better now?" Eeteuk asked, petting Sungmin's cheek fondly, and Sungmin nodded, still sipping at his cup.
"He's okay?" The host queried, acting very serious, and Eeteuk nodded, wrapping his arm around Sungmin for another hug.
"He's got his milk, he'll be fine now," he explained, and the laughter rose in intensity when Sungmin flashed two fingers and winked with the straw still in his mouth.
Kyuhyun's eyes shone with amusement as he observed the touching scene before him. He glanced up to the many monitors to look for a close-up of Sungmin and, though he found several, he also saw many of his own face and flushed, hiding himself behind his hands again. He would never get used to being on television.
When the crowd was finally hushed by the host's gesturing, he turned to Sungmin and bowed briefly.
"I apologize for upsetting you, Sungmin-ah. Please don't cut off my head with nunchucks after filming," he requested very seriously, and Sungmin giggled good-naturedly, hiding his mouth behind his hand for a moment. Kyuhyun watched his close-up on the monitor, swallowing thickly when Sungmin withdrew his hand. Sungmin's full lips were still glossy with make-up, and his plump pink tongue came out to clean stray milk left behind, reminding Kyuhyun vaguely of a kitten, but more than anything else it was just very, very sexual.
"I'll consider it," Sungmin replied sweetly and pulled his legs back up to his chest while the audience applauded yet again.
