Maybe a new home!

I looked at three more apartment complexes today, and called one to say we were definitely wanting to go for it. I'm hoping we can somehow get the 12th floor apartment at this one building because man, I fell in love with that balcony view. I can see the Ottawa River from there! But barring that, we'd have a 3rd floor place, which I'm okay with. But I still hope for the nice view.

Now, it is carpeted, and I'll miss hardwood flooring, but it's lower in rent (we'd be shelling out close to $300 less per month) and located more in Ottawa proper. Smaller, but we wouldn't be losing that much actual used living space-- just have to readjust some of what we currently have. Bookshelves would likely go to the bedroom, for instance, as would my drawing table. The one I looked at was still occupied, and the guy not only had a queen bed like we do, but had the exact same cat tree and litterbox as one of ours, too. Extra help in imagining where things can go!

It has a nice amount of closet/storage space, and more counter space in the kitchen. The commute to work, for Chris, won't be that bad because it's still the west end of Ottawa, and just a short jump from the 417 (the major highway he would take to get to work). We'd be within walking distance of the bookstore (and adjacent shopping center, including Ikea, but I told Chris that we'd still drive to Ikea because walking around this Ikea-- the largest in Canada-- is a pretty good walk in itself).

Tomorrow I'm dropping by to grab the application so I can take it to Chris to fill out, then taking the car in for general maintenance. (Nothing is wrong with it, just that regular check-up thing.) But I did make a point of telling them we were definitely going for it, so we should have it in line for us, unlike the two I looked at last week that were snatched up within a couple of days of viewing.

I still love my haircut and pink hair, after washing it a few times.

Chris gave me his cold. Again. He did this last month, too. His birthday is Monday, and I have 2/3 of his presents done. :)

Amazon.ca was pretty awesome about replacing the three ordered books that I never got (despite the site saying they were delivered). So I have those, too. I'm considering giving cross-stitch another go, because there are some cute patterns in a couple of the books. Plus I bet I can make up my own, too.

This weekend is Ottawa Comic Con. :) We have tickets to go, and I hope I can get a photo op chance with Adam Baldwin. :D

PS-- North Carolina, you suck right now. jsyk.
