Thanksgiving Trip and Christmas Knitting

Thanksgiving was excellent fun, as expected, though I did miss getting to see Mike, who had to stay in Raleigh and work. Ellen and I drove down to Jackson with our dogs (Gremlin and Morgan went. Zoe stayed at home with Mike.), and I think that car trips are much nicer when you have a corgi sleeping on your feet.

My family is always boisterous and fun, and we ate soooo much. My brother fried a turkey and some chickens, and mom and Ellen made about 6 pies (2 pumpkin, 2 pecan, chocolate, sugar cream). I got to hang out with my good friend Chrissy and my family, and they were super sweet and threw a surprise baby shower for me.

I’m beginning to despair over the Christmas knitting. I had almost finished the first of my mom’s Flamingo mittens, but I tried it on and realized it would be way too small. Granted, mom has smaller hands than I do, but I’m almost certain she would want to retain the ability to move her thumb. So that got frogged, and I couldn’t work on it or the other surprise knitting while at home in front of gift recipients. The mittens could also use a liner, but I doubt I’ll have time to get that done.

I did manage to cast on and knit about 35 rows of the Starflower baby blanket for Danger. It’s going well, but will certainly not be finished before he is born. It may end up being a 1st birthday present.
