I really enjoy ginger ale. It's got about 2/3 the calories of Coke or Pepsi. All the calories in fizzy drinks is from sugar.
I enjoy the ginger ale because it's not as sweet as cola, the lower-calories thing is just a bonus. I don't really care about calories. If I did, I still couldn't drink Diet pop. I hate the non-sugar sweeteners. They're too sweet. I mean "saccharine" is an adjective meaning "falsely sweet", so enlgish-speakers must tend to agree with me to some degree.
I do enjoy the Cola flavor though. I'd like to get some Coca-Cola that's got half the sugar of normal Coke. Call it 'Half Coke' or 'Coke 50'. Nice. You can't accomplish this by mixing half-Coke, half-Diet Coke, of course.
I think there's a market niche for this. Really. Dieting people, of course, and other people like me who don't have that sweetness of tooth.
